if it's sharp edged and inline with the pixels, you have a bad green lcd panel. if it's fuzzy and random, you have a burnt light filter. either way, it's an optical engine issue. you can try to go into the case, remove the ribbon cable for the green lcd (unlock the ribbon clip first) and reinsert it and lock it down. if that doesn't work, you'll have to replace it.

you VGA card seems to be defective, if you have warranty take it back to where you bought it from

if your TV is still under warranty, call Samsung to get it fix. I seen this problem and is quite expensive to repair

Its unfortunately a bad LCD panel. Even though the warranties for these TVs has expired, you should contact the manufacturer because there may be a hidden warranty ( when a manufacturer knows of an issue with a limited number of TVs and decides to quietly take care of those consumers who contact them.)

Be prepared for some resistance from the first person you speak with. Persistance pays off when dealing with the customer relations dept.s of large corporations.

Is this a tube television? If so, sounds like the flyback transformer is dead. Take it to the service depot FOR AN ESTIMATE!!!! It's probably cheaper to buy a new TV then repair the transformer.

Is the stripe there when the machine boots up in dos or only when it goes into windows? If only in windows the I suspect a driver problem. If all the time I suspect that the LCD panel itself has gone bad.

ok let me ask model number is rca hd52w56? rca. When you plug it up and attempt to turn it on does the front light flash. Green stripe? there all the time..
