It's the modem, not the wireless router that is the problem.
The modem must have the proper account name & password for it to work.

Test:
Connect a computer directly into the modem (without router). The modem has an Ethernet connector. If you can't get Internet by connecting a computer directly to the modem, then you will never get the router to work.
Contact your ISP. They may not give you the account name / password, but instead do a service call to your location.

I cant get wifi and internet on my computer at the same time

Hi. Let's hava look at what you are doing.

I'm guessing that you have a cable modem a dlink router with wifi and a computer, right?
If you connect the cable modem to the computer you have internet. You shouild also have wfi but the wifi will not give you internet because it is disconnected from the modem.
The Dlink has to be connected to the modem but it will also need to be configured. To *** that you will need help from your cable company.
The connections should be. Modem connected to the outside world. Dlink connected to the Modem. Computer connected to the Dlink by either wifi or Ethernet.

Orange globe keeps appearing on my dlink dir655 and it disconnects internet

First try replacing your LAN cable between you internet modem and the router. A bad cable the is intermittent may cause this issue. Try rebooting the modem. Also if possible try a direct connection to your internet modem by LAN cable or wireless and see if your connection stays up. You could have a bad internet modem or other connection issue from your provider

The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset.

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

I have a d link d1 514 router. I'm unable to open 192.168.0.1. if i put the internet connection wire in LAN then I'm able to get internet access using cable but if i put the wire in wan, I'm not getting...

carry out the resetting of the dlink router
then use lan cable to gain access to dlink router,
set up the internet conenction (i.e. your internet provider modem plugged into the dlink router also)

if it has a built in wizard then just follow the on screen instructions

you will need to define SSID (wireless network name) and passkey (password for the wireless connection)

and the your done. disconnect the laptop from wired connection and connect via wireless

Globe symbol won't turn green.

I was banging my head for 2 days with about 35 different configurations and finally tried the following and it worked just fine. Also, tried connecting 3 computers and they all connected with "NO" issues. Even connected wireless with "NO" issues. Now I am at 20mb download speed...J compared to AT&T 1.5mb download speed.

This is my DLINK model -> (DIR-601 Wireless N 150 Home Router Wireless router)

1. Reset your Comcast Surfboard Cable Modem by unplugging it for 5 minutes.

2. Then reset your DLINK Router to the manufactures default settings. Then Unplug DLINK Router for 1 minute then plug it back in (Just plug your cat5 cable into port 1 and connect it to your computer) there should not be anything else plugged into the DLINK Router at the time you make the changes. Just 1 computer can be connected.

3. Went into the DLINK configuration 192.168.0.1 and changed the PPPOE setting that I was using for my AT&T Modem to Dynamic IP (DHCP). Once you make the changes save them and then unplug your DLINK Router it's off.

4. Turn on Comcast Surfboard Cable Modem and wait until all lights are on. Now plug in a cat5 cable from the Surfboard Comcast modem (NOT A CROSSOVER CABLE LIKE THE CD INDICATES) to the INTERNET port of your DLINK Router. Now turn on your DLINK router.

5. Then turn on your computers or restart them and it will pick up IP Addresses from your DLINK Router

Connect dlink wireless router to cable modem

If your cable modem was operative ...here's an easy procedure:

1. Turn off all network routers, modem, computers..
2. Turn on the power to the DLink router. let it cycle up.
3. Connect your ethernet from the Dlink to the cable modem and then turn the power on to the cable modem and let it cycle up.
..this will "fool" the cable modem into finding your dlink as the "computer" ..since the cable modem is set up for only one computer, if the dlink is the "computer" that it locks in, then go ahead and turn on all other computers and etc...you should be able to get online wirelessly..
Follow the order of events above and it should be cool.

I have an issue with my Dlink DIR-625 wireless and cable modem

it isn't syncing up with your modem, try a hard reboot, disconect everything, even the cable, after 5 minutes , first screw the coax cable back to the modem, that will re establish the cable connection, plug everything back in, and if that pc light still is still doesn't work, the router may be bad, look on the Dlink site and download the latest firmware, as a last resort, but also reset the router first before trying anything, there is a reset button on the router. Sometimes certain routers don't work with certain modems, if you try the reset, then the hard reboot, and the firmware, you have covered all the bases

I currently use a cable modem to connect to the internet from my Imac. I have dlink wireless router that I used to have for my old pc so that my work laptop could connect. How do I install the dlink on the...

No need to install the dlink on the imac. All you need to do is connect the modem first the dlink. (Modem connected to Internet or WAN port of the dlink). Now if they are connected, your imac should be plugged in to port 1 of dlink, and your PC to port 2. That should do it.

On which port of the D-link router did you plug the WRT160N router?

Do this setup.

Disconnect the WRT160N from D-link.

Connect a computer to port 1 of the WRT160N. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. you may need to type in the username and password for WRT160N. on the setup page Change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. save the settings.

Connect a cable from port 1,2,3 or 4 of the D-link router to the Internet port of the WRT160N. turn off everything then turn them on starting from cable modem>D-link >WRT160N then computer.

You should be able to access the internet.

Cable internet setup

No, you need to buy a wireless router and connect wireless router to cable modem. Non cable modems do not work on cabled wireless network.
If you buy cable router, buy either a router with no modem integrated or a modem/router for cable network, this last one may be best option, but it needs to be configured. Ask to retailer which models are ok with your broadband provider.

Cable modem + dlink router

Your modem needs to be rebooted in order for your router to pull an IP from the modem. To do this, look for a little hole in the back of your modem and use a pen to push the button. Wait for the reboot to finish and then try again in about 20 seconds.
