I have a Kenmore elite gas range, model 790.3670 or 3671. After self cleaning yesterday, the door would not unlock. We were told by sears today to turn power off for 5 minutes then hold stop/clear button when we turn power back on. The screen now displays a blinking "door locked" light and "dr" above that and is audio beeping every few seconds. The sears people said they need to send a repairman out here and they can't get out here until Jan 7 and it's Christmas! This stove is only one month old! Please help! :)
Hold down the number three button until the LOC message disappears and then the door will open.
We just had a similar problem for the same gas range. The oven started a self clean on its own (we could have hit the clean and start buttons together without realizing or maybe it malfunctioned). Anyway, we turned off the power to stop it from cleaning, however this was not until the door had locked. Two hours later and the door was still locked, even though the manual says it will open after the oven has cooled down. A few days and $125 later the Sears repairman had used a metal coat hanger, provided by us, to slide between the top of the oven door and the oven to pull the latch back. Once the door was open he hit the clear button and it's all working again!
I held down the 3, which didn't seem to work for me. Then I held down stop/clear for about 10 seconds and there was a beep and the red LOC message went away. I let go of the stop/clear button. The door was still locked and the yellow DOOR LOCKED sign started flashing. There was another beep about 3 seconds later, and now the door opens. Hooray.
