Trouble Copying Single 7 Gb file to 8 Gb pen drive on OSX Tiger

Hi there,
This is Ashish from India. I'm having trouble copying a 7 Gb file that i've downloaded from the net, to my 8 Gb Transcend Pen Drive. I'm running OSX.4.11 Tiger on PowerPcG4 800Mhz Mac. Please let me know of any Solution available...

The thing is that, it Is a formatted drive... There's enough space(7.67 GB). The problem is that, (most of the times) these drives are formatted in the FAT32 format, so that they may work on both Macs n PCs. But, FAT32 cannot handle Single files more than 4GB in size. So i wanted to know if there's any S/w, or hack wherein i might be able to copy the 7GB file from my Mac to my PC through my 8 GB Transcend pen drive.

Hi,

When you try to copy it to the drive what happens? What error message do you get?

Make sure you have enough space on the drive. If there is enough space and it won't copy, then backup everything on the drive and reformat. Then try to copy the 7 GB file again.

May I suggest a file and splitter/joiner program like HJSplit.

Sir i has purchased in last 18 month 8 gb pen drive and this time time pen drive is not show on 7 gb data copy any computers so sir plz check my pen drive ok azad 9988629625

This is normal. When windows "prepares" the drive for access; it uses a certain amount of space up for 'indexes' of files (much like table of contents of a book.

I have a 4 GB kingston USD pen drive when I try to save data It says no space

Good Day!

See first the free space of your Pen Drive, to do this, go to MY COMPUTER then right click your PEN DRIVE and click properties, you will see how much is the available space. And also try to see the file size that you are copying and compare it to the free space of your Pen Drive. You can't copy file more than the capacity or the free space of your Pen Drive, that is why you come up with that error message.

Hope I was able to help.

My pendrive's copying speed is very slow. its capacty is 8 GB. whn i connect pen drive to the PC its get lots time rather then normal time. and when i copying some data its gets slow.

format the pen drive after taking the backup and then defragmented it you will get smooth work in your pen drive. If not so fast after defragmentation then check your computer configuration and its space may be it is due to your computer is slow you con check whether your pen drive is ok or not by connecting it to any other good pc. good luck

And please vote me and rate me..

Sounds like it's fried. Pen drive sometimes go bad, especially is they are pulled out of a machine without stopping it first. Not much you can do, sorry.
