Fuji Finepix 40i - Read error

I have had this camera for 5 years and it has been very reliable up to now. I can take pictures but when I view them on screen it comes up with a 'read error' and the light flashes red. This seems to have occurred since I downloaded all pictures on two separate discs on to my computer. I have reformatted both discs but this has not made any difference the same problem occurs. Can you suggest any solution? Thanks in anticipation

These cameras only have a short life span, and I would say yours is about due. We had a 1.3mp digital camera until recently and it started doing the same thing. As digital cameras are so cheap now I would recommend having a look at a new one.

The only thing you could try is to get a new memory card as the cards may be damaged, but this may be throwing money away if you can't use the new card in another camera. It will depend on what type of card it uses, as most of the new cameras use a different type than the older ones.

I have lost all of this last year of pictures twice now,, my finepix s1500 is giving me read error on the memory card and cant retrieve pix

Carefully clean the card contacts - try again - no joy - try in a card reader. I have several Finepix cameras and not one has failed in this manner. Good luck.

I think it can still be used for another month.. but you will spend a lot on batteries

My camera says "read error" when trying to view pics

You might as well replace the camera, they do not fix these. If you send it in to Fuji you get an exchange camera from Fuji, the cost is fairly high

When I go to look at the pictures I have taken, it keeps reading "read error" and won't let me look at the pictures I have taken.

try a different card. I bought a card on ebay ant it randomly did that. I have 4 cards and only on of the cards does that.

Digital camera reads " read error" when I try and view the pictures

Change your memory card. I had same problem with my new Fuji Finepix S1000fd. Problem always came out in flash mode, with write/read error and freezing problems. Always use Premier brand memory cards. Prior to changing it, I also suggest to format your present card.

Keep getting "read error" on screen

Best bet is to format the media card in the camera. This will delete any pictures that are currently on the card. You will then start with a "clean slate" media card to work with.

Fuji finepix a340-card error

Storage cards can go bad, but usually this happens only after a long period of time (years), or if exposed to a magnetic force of some kind.
You can try a few things to resolve it:
1. Try reformatting the card, if the device can process data on it.
2. Insert the card into a card reader on a PC to see if the drive can be read. If you can read the card, remove all data and empty the trash, then reformat it.
3. If you get an error on that as well, replace it.
It's not worth risking that you might lose your valuable pictures to unstable media.
Good luck.
