Dell SE198WFP 19" LCD won't come out of standby

I added a Dell SE198WFP 19" LCD to my old Dell XP system, and got the latest (only?) driver, 1.0.0.0
12/21/2006 . It works except for standby mode. My old control panel power settings turned off the monitor at 10 minutes, then put the system in standby at 15 minutes. The new Dell monitor does not wake up when I try to come out of standby. I have to power off the computer, then the monitor wakes during restart. I changed the power settings in control panel to never turn off the monitor, and still go into standby at 15 minutes. Now it hangs forever with the monitor displaying "Preparing to standby". It does not back out of standby if I hit a key, and it never proceeds to standby. The only way to recover is power off and on. How do I get the LCD to wake up when the rest of the system wakes (assuming the rest DOES wake now, I only see black screen.)

I went into the BIOS (with F2 during restart) and changed a value -- IIRC it was called something like "power management scheme" -- from the default S3 to the other choice, S1. Now the old Dell XP Dimension 2350 will go into and out of Standby correctly and the new SE198WFP 19" LCD will too.

Blue light on with blank screen dell SE198WFP monitor

It depends on what type of connection you are using. If you are using a VGA (analog) cable then you need to select that mode on your monitor menu. If you are using a DVI (digital) cable then you need to choose that mode on you monitor menu.

I have a Dell SE198WFP Flat Panel Monitor, screen goes black?

The LCd panel may be damaged and will cause this problem.

Another thing is overheating of the GPU.

The LCD signal receiver can be goign on you.

The is also the possibility of a faulty inverter.

Only thing to do is service or replace. Test the unit on another computer, if you don't get the issue there then you know its a problem with the PC.

MONITOR COMES ON FINE I GET A FLICKER AND THE SCREEN GOES BLACK

Hi,

It’s very likely your monitor has failed. Most Dell monitors have a 3 year warranty, so if you got it before three years, you could get it replaced by calling Dell. If you got the monitor with the computer, you can check your warranty online from with your computer Service Tag from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen . If you bought the monitor separately, you would need an Order Number or Customer Number for the purchase, or you could call Dell support and they could pull it out with your registered phone number. Dell would also need the serial number (starting with CN XXX..) from the back of the monitor.

Hope this helps. Please rate your feedback!
Thanks,
