Chances are that your psp drive is broken. It is easily replaceable by buying a replacement UMD DRIVE on ebay.com for around $16. Then search on youtube.com "how to replace psp umd drive" and that should do the trick. Hope this helps.

One of two things:

1.Your UMDs are scratched or broken
2.Your PSP lens are malfunctioning

I suggest getting a different UMD, or, if the problem persists, replace the lens on your PSP.

Psp(1001)won't read umd games or movies

Psp problem
if it doesnt read the disk,you may want to open it up (but voiding the warranty) and clean the UMD drive.
if it doesnt read just one UMD,it might be the disk.
if cleaning the UMD drive doesnt work,you may have to get a new drive,or a new psp.

PSP "DISK COLUD NOT BE READ"
when a psp is starting to read a disk, it takes up 333 mhz of processing power to to read it. thas why u dont see anything when u come from off or sleep into on w/ games inside of teh drive. its normal. all psp's do that. now ur laser is bad get another drive or use rubbing alcohol on a qtip and clean it,

have you tried various disks? certan disks may either be scratched or dusty so you coul take a can of compressed air and ust out both some umd's and the umd tray of the psp. also, if you're usuing a custom firmware, you may find it will work once you revert to an official firmware

1.just take it out for a min and give a good wipe and without spittin, blow inside the umd tray
2. IT IS THE LENS!!!! Do they have any psp lens cleaners?
