Same happened to me us this morning.... we had sound the night before, no one touched anything, but we finally figured out to go to (on the Remote Control) MENU, scroll down to SETTINGS, choose the 1st option SET-TOP BOX VOLUME, we hit OK to view your set-top box volume. On the screen there was on the top right a visual of our setting and it was 'red' and looked to be none or mute. We hit the up/down arrows on the remote to change the none/mute to 14 and we had sound. WEIRD, VERY VERY WEIRD that it reset itself, but this is what fixed our problem. But first I did unplug and reset all boxes attached to the TV for about 10 minutes.Same happened to me us this morning.... we had sound the night before, no one touched anything, but we finally figured out to go to (on the Remote Control) MENU, scroll down to SETTINGS, choose the 1st option SET-TOP BOX VOLUME, we hit OK to view your set-top box volume. I have a Vizio E320VL - just hooked up the HDMI for the first time (4 years later) to work with my new comcast HD DTA. I'm getting "retrieving data" (with really weird audio sounds in the background) - then "not support." If I wait a few minutes, I can change the channel and get clips of video/audio with some intermittent gray snow and black screen - The longer I leave the TV on, the better this gets until its almost running fine 30 mins later.
I can see good video, but I hear no audio with my XWH200 adapters? Published 11/21/2011 06:46 AM Updated 11/21/2011 02:26 PM While most HDMI sources work with good audio and video, we have a compatibility issue with audio from a few specific products (eg, DirecTV HD DVR satellite set-top box, DISH Networks satellite set-top-box, and TiVo Premiere XL cable set-top-box). If you are experiencing problems with no audio or muted audio with one of your HDMI sources, then please try changing the audio settings on your problematic HDMI source to PCM or LPCM. Then turn off the TV, remote power from the WirelessHD adapters, and power off the HDMI source. Now power everything back on. If you are still experiencing no audio then please write down the model number of your HDMI source with no audio and contact VIZIO customer support.
I assume you mean the TV sound only comes out of the TV. THAT would involve internal audio controls at the TV.
Why don't you just connect the TV-related audio directly from each source to the DAV instead of through the TV, which adds NOTHING to the sound quality and may even degrade or limit it.
Try pressing the MTS button on your remote while on the channel that does not have audio and select stereo. Most likely this will be set to SAP (secondary audio programming) and there is no SAP programming on that show. This is not something that could be avoided. It was during the channel scan, it locked in the SAP audio broadcasts for some reason.
Call vizio asap they will have a tech come and fix it free.. after the manufacture warrenty runs out they want to charge you 6--$ to fix it here is the number! 877 698 4946
If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on. If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
