That is an ATC 222 Chassis and I would highly suspect the problem is in the Ssb rather than a lamp problem. In fact I think you could rule out the lamp all together... The Ssb (small signal board) is p/n# 258761 and takes care of all the color signal decoding. It has also a higher than normal failure rate.

5 year old RCA 50 inch projection tv. Picture went off.

If you are using component cables make sure they are all connected properly( pushed all the way in and in the correct input). I have seen the red cable come loose several times and cause no red color in the picture. When you change the lamp it is easy to pull on one of those cables and cause it to come loose.

Help :) My PANHDTV-53WX42F color went dark and I can not seem to get it lighter by using the menu options, also tried the convergence adjustments,, should I call a service tech or buy a new tv ??? Thanks !

I have determined that it is my green bulb that is bad, because it also controls a lot of the black/white picures, thus that I believe it is out this is causing the darkness. I went through all of the convergences through set up and altered/adjusted all the options in picture, not much changed other than the brightness of the pictures which at least makes it somewhat watchable. Have called a tech to replace bulb. Will let you know if it is anything else, but I must say for a "girl" I am getting very good at assessing a lot of mechanical issues :)
