The reason it stops spraying might be a clogged gun, hose or nozzle-tip.
The reason for pressure buildup killing the engine might be a stuck unloader valve in the pump.

While you are checking each component of the "output" side, spray some penetrating lube into the "input" side of the pump (where the garden hose connects) and let it be working on the unloader valve.

Fix the spraying problem first:
Start at the nozzle and verify that it is open by using low-pressure air. Clean or replace as needed. Next check the hose (with nozzle and gun unhooked) and finally the gun/trigger mechanism.
All must be clear and open to perform correctly.

Next, pour a few ounces of power steering fluid (or similarly LIGHT oil) into the garden hose, attach it to the pump and turn on the water supply.

Leave the "output" hose, gun, etc. UNHOOKED and point the output port of the pump (where the high-pressure hose connects) towards a vacant, safe area.
Startup the engine and allow the oil in the garden hose to work its way thru. (About 1 -3 minutes of run-time.) Shut it down and attach the high-pressure hose.
Hope this solves the problem!

Engine runs fine. But it quits when I pull the trigger on the wand to start washing

Does this behavior change if the engine is warm and on minimum choke? Do you get any water spray before the engine quits? Carburetor could be dirty or float stuck. Try putting dose of carburetor cleaner through engine and cycle choke lever and engine speed lever back and forth while engine is running after it has warmed up without running water spray. See owners manual.

Engine won't continue to run!

sound like an air leak, too much air coming in kills engine, try spraying like starting fluid by and seals, or do a compressed smoke test

1993 ford crown victoria will not start

This sounds like a bad fuel pump. start engine with the fluid spray and leave it in park and try to rev the engine and if it dies then check pump or relay but i would bet the pump is bad.

Dewalt DPD3800 pressure washer starts and runs fine. After 5-10 minutes of washing the engine quits. It will not start until it cools. The engine will start after a 10 minute cool down. It will run and...

I have the exact same pressure washer and have had the same issues with it. The cure for me was to simply run the washer with the gas cap loose. For some reason the fuel gets vacuume locked and stops flowing into the carb. The fuller the tank is it seems the shorter the time is between the time it starts and the time it shuts off. Or you might find a way to vent the cap. Hope this helps.

Stalls while driving, shut car off n wait 20 seconds then car starts again till it stalls again. replaced cam n crank sensors but problem still exists,, is it the wiring or pcm now, please help

i think i would change the fuel filter first. also a plugged catalytic converter will act the same, i would check that second. the vehicle will run until it builds up back pressure and kills the engine. then with engine off the pressure gets relieved and it will start then the whole process will start again. check the pressure at your exhaust pipe.

Dewalt Pressure washer keeps shutting off for no reason. plenty of gas and oil, water running to it. starts fine and as soon as I start spraying it shuts down.

Had a similar issue with my dewalt 4200 pw. Unit starting shutting off after spraying for about 5 min. Then difficult to restart, but would start again eventually only to shut down a few min later. Had new engine oil, new pump oil, good gas. I changed the spark plug and unit runs great again!

MTD mower runs for 10 minutes then quits.

I have the same problem with mine. I have narrowed it down to a fuel problem through deductive reasoning. Try this test. Start the engine clamp the bar (keep away from the spinning blade) when the engine tries to die push the prime bulb to keep it running. This simulates a fuel pump by putting a pressure higher than atmosphere into the float bowl spraying fuel into the intake. If this is the case the line (on mine it is a black tube) connected to the engine is clogged or what it connects to in the engine is not working properly. I am looking for a diagram of the carb and the engine that is detailed but I have not found one yet.

Please get back to me with your results. Thanks
