Go to Start, Control Panel, Power Options and change your monitor setting to never turn off. If you do leave your monitor on all the time then you should set up a screen saver.

I have a Dell 1704 FPVt monitor I use it in conjunction with an touch board with a monitor split cable. when I plug the team board in the dell monitor goes blank. It doesn't do this with the old m

Isolate the problem per above. Eliminate the monitor, split cable and software settings so that each, individually work. Then eliminate team board - do you have a spare?
It could mean sharing the monitor signal means weakens it so that one can display and the other does not work. Prove it with a different source computer. Don't know if buffer devices exist or how to increase input sensitivity.

Dell 1704 monitor goes to black screen after one

Hi my name is Rain.
Ok so that im clear on the problem. your monitor will come on but in a matter of seconds it goes to a black screen?
If this is the problem. The answers you seek will most likely
be in your video card.
Try this test:
  • Unplug monitor from the computer.
  • Turn on monitor .
  • Look for monitor self test screen.
If you see the monitors self test screen then your problem indeed is
the video card . You will need to replace the video card inside of the computer.

I have a Dell 1704 FPTt monitor and it is about 4 years old. The monitor will be fine for a few hours and then go black. I turn it off and back on and the screen only stay's lit for a few seconds. What do...

Hello,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the badparts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the newone the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Monitor goes black after being on for about 20 minutes

This might be related to your system power options, if your monitor turns off after sometime (20 mins in this case) the best way to find out if this is caused due to a thermal reason - is to see if the monitor can work immediately after it turns off (coz, for thermal shutdowns it needs time to cool down before it works again)
