Depending on your version of windows, I would trying starting in safe mode to see if the computer does boot. If it does, then you want to restart again, go to advanced boot options and select "start windows with last known good configuration." Access advanced boot options following the steps at this link. You will need to find the boot files somewhereon the nternet then flash them onto yur deice

Reboot the computer and keep hitting F8 to enter the recovery screen. Boot into Safe mode, and run system restore (programs-->Accessories-->system tools). Restore your computer to a previous date when it worked properly.

Some Windows start up file is corrupted. Repairing the Operating System will solve the problem.

When it loads the black screen hit ctrl+alt+del. If it brings up the list of options click Start Task Manager. Click start new process. type in explorer.exe and see if that works
