Had the same problem today. On the front bottom left hand side there is a small door. Open the door and unplug the black rubber hose, this will allow the water to drain (make sure you have a small bucket to drain the water into.) After the water has drained, unscrew the black filter. Wash the filter and insert it back into the washer. Turn the filter until it will not turn any further. Plug the black water hose and close the door. If you had the same problem I did then it should work.
LG recommends that the filter be cleaned twice a month.
I tried that but my washer still is not working , what do I do?
Yesssss!!! This worked for me! Yaaay! I LOVE the internet! Thank you KristaAnn13! Now off to do laundry....
My washer wouldn't turn on, so I followed the steps above. At first, it didn't work, but on a whim I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked!!! Thank you, KristaAnn13 for saving me a service call.

Buy Domestic is my answer. Repairs are very costly on LG. Have to replace a two year old LG dishwasher after spending $300 to have it serviced. Went through two guys before finding a third guy who could work on it, only to have yet another problem. Dude said the se issue on a domestic made product would have been less expensive because everything is easier to get to.
