I have Portable LG DVD player Model DP781 was working fine now when you play disc it just says "Disc Error" how do I Fix this

    Played CD in it and CD worked then tried DVD and it worked but very slow loading.
    could something be starting to go with these symptoms

    The same story with my LG dp271. After cd/mp3 playing I have inserted a DVD video disc and it always returns Disc Error.

Sounds like a bad laser does it play cd's fine?

Hi,

Sounds like either a dirty or weak laser/lens. Pls try cleaning with a CD disc cleaner or manually using cotton buds (if the eye is accessible).

Look closely, with lots if light and magnifying glass, at the pickup lense. Static attracts teeny tiny fibers and they bend the light and cause read errors. Also, smoking covers lense sometimes. Can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and swab. I think that cd cleaning disks cannot actually clean as the lense is recessed.

DVD plays audio but no video? The LG screens comes on but the screen goes dark and only the audio plays. I ran the disc cleaner.

Stops Playing: screen freezes
My friend suggested I clean the dvd optical reader lens inside the player with a fine brush (like a camera brush with a blower bulb). This seemed to help immensely. I'm not certain if this is just a temporary fix, but it seems to be ok so far.
