Blocked canister vent tube.if you pull the last open section of rubber tube off at the back and blow it out with compressed air you will likely get a spider web.

Can't pump gas into car

This can be caused by a vent solenoid failing to release pressure in the Evaporative Emission system. The car needs to displace the space inside the tank so that gasoline can replace the vacant air space. Sometimes the service station nozzles react too soon when they sense the backpressure of a full fuel tank measuring air resistance. Failing to vent the air pressure throws everything off so that even a few gallons is sensed as a full tank.

Own a 2001 Kia Sportage which spews gasoline out when refueling. also tends to go dead when driving down highway.

-Check breath line (vapor line), it might be bend. Tha's why it spill gas when refill.
Q: What is breath line and where is it...?
A: It's a small tube line above the filler line that along with the filler libe to the tank.

-You mean it will die when you try to press more gas...?
-If so. Possible need new spark plug.
-Check and test TPS (trottle position sensor) Must be within specification
Check mass air flow sensor & Clean. Careful do not damege.

2001 Mazad 626 ran out of gas, after refueling car wont start

Hello
The electric fuel pump in this car is located inside the fuel tank, it is a very small pump but able to do its job without burning out because it is cooled by the gas it is immersed in, when you run out of gas you severely overheated the pump and it seizes up the rotor that pumps the gas. You should avoid ever letting the fuel tank level go below 1/8 tank on gauge to avoid pump damage from heat. Bottom line you will need to replace the fuel pump. I have seen this happen dozens of times in cars towed to the shop after they ran out of fuel..

When refueling my Elantra will not accept fuel as it used to. fuel backs up in filler tube. takes ten to fiffteen minets to fill!

If there is a rubberized hose (and there probably is) connecting the fill pipe to the tank, check to make sure it hasn't partially collapsed, thereby restricting fuel flow thru it.

I Have a 1992 f150 and the gas tank will not fill, the tube backs up...

Check the vent tube on the filler pipe.....the rubber section may have collapsed and is not allowing the air to escape as you are refueling.

Gasoline pump at gas station keeps turning off

There is a vent valve located near the fuel tank. The vent valve is part of the EVAP emission system. If the valve is obstructed or failed, air will not escape while refueling.
Has the service engine light come on at all?

2006 jeep liberty will not take gas keeps clicking off gas pump. 3rd time at dealer. dealer has no idea what's wrong

The ORVR (On-Board Refueling Vapor Recovery) system consists of a unique fuel tank, flow management valve, fluid control valve, one-way check valve and vapor canister.

The ORVR (On-Board Refueling Vapor Recovery) system is used to remove excess fuel tank vapors. This is done while the vehicle is being refueled..

Fuel flowing into the fuel filler tube (approx. 1 inches I.D.) creates an aspiration effect drawing air into the fuel fill tube. During refueling, the fuel tank is vented to the EVAP canister to capture escaping vapors. With air flowing into the filler tube, there are no fuel vapors escaping to the atmosphere. Once the refueling vapors are captured by the EVAP canister, the vehicle's computer controlled purge system draws vapor out of the canister for the engine to burn. The vapor flow is metered by the purge solenoid so that there is no, or minimal impact on driveability or tailpipe emissions.

As fuel starts to flow through the fuel fill tube, it opens the normally closed check valve and enters the fuel tank. Vapor or air is expelled from the tank through the control valve and on to the vapor canister. Vapor is absorbed in the EVAP canister until vapor flow in the lines stops. This stoppage occurs following fuel shut-off, or by having the fuel level in the tank rise high enough to close the control valve. This control valve contains a float that rises to seal the large diameter vent path to the EVAP canister. At this point in the refueling process, fuel tank pressure increases, the check valve closes (preventing liquid fuel from spiting back at the operator), and fuel then rises up the fuel filler tube to shut off the dispensing nozzle.
