Need help when my son plays games on the ps3 the sound is real low.

This is a problem occurring in all the play station 3 consoles....... this is mainly because of some error in board .....as a result it leads to the damage of ur PS3 ....................try to update your system ..........

No, sounds like the DVD drive is going bad. Try another game and see if it happens again.

if your trying to play a ps2 or ps1 game then your ps3 is not backwards compatable so it will only play ps3 games that goes for most ps3's that are 20gb or 40gb cause we have 2 ps3s in my house my sons is 40 and mines is 80gb and his wont play ps2 games but mines will and thats the reason why.

You have to let the PS3 automaticly check sound after setting up HDMI. Redo the Video setup and let it do everything automaticly. Might check audio settings on the tv its self.

Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.
