OK, This should get you started on the problem. You need to remove the Fuse first to stop it running. Locate the fan switch and check that it is not permanently on (Short Circiut). If it is, Fit a new switch.
If not, then you need to locate the Fan Relay Switch and see if this is stuck on.
Thats assuming you do not have a short circiut in the wiring loom.

You can drive without the fan but not in slow traffic, you must have airflow across the radiator to avoid damaged. Do not allow the car to overheat.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

Cooling fan won't shut off.

If an engine is hot, the cooling fan will continue to run even after the engine has been turned off.
If the fan runs when the engine is cold, you probably have a temperature sensor issue.

What is the year make and model of your vehicle?

2008 Saturn aura over heating fan still spinning

electric fans that continue to run for a while after turning off the engine are not unusual and not necessarily a sign of a problem, especially in hot weather. Just make sure , when the engine is cold, that you have your coolant levels topped up.

Slight overheating after driving 15 miles. there seems to be no loss of antifreeze. radiator is full. overflow is full. the radiator was replaced 5 months ago both hoses also.

You could go back to the place that did the radiator / hose work to have them check it out. You may pay more for the solution - but it will be complete. You could check (or replace) the thermostat on your own, or continue searching for a possible fault. This can get even more expensive if you start replacing parts.

To check the thermostat - remove it from the vehicle when cold. Be careful to prevent spilling / loss of coolant when removing from car. The thermostat should be closed. Place in a small pot and fill with water to completely cover the thermostat. Heat the pot on stove set to "high". The thermostat should open depending on the temperature value (185 degrees , etc.), but all thermostats should open before the water comes to a boil (212 degrees). If it opens fully, the thermostat is OK. You could reinstall it - or since it is already apart, install a brand new thermostat instead. If it does not open, it should be replaced with a new one.

Check the fan. With the engine running, the fan should be spinning if a mechanical type. If electrical, the fan will turn on and off as determined by a separate electrical thermostat for the fan. When the engine approaches operating temperature, the fan will be switched on. When cooled sufficiently, it will switch off. If the mechanical fan is equipped with a clutch - the fan should be able to be rotated with the engine off. It should offer some resistance - but should turn never the less. The part of the fan in contact with the drive belt shouldn't move if there is a clutch. Under no circumstances should a mechanical fan spin freely, nor should it wobble. Electric fans should spin freely however.

An important note about fans: After driving the car and shutting the engine off, it is not unusual for the electric fan to start up - even without a key in the ignition. Never attempt to touch a car's electric fan blades unless the engine is COLD. Never reach into the fan area or protective shroud of car's mechanical fan when the engine is running.

Another thing that could be causing a problem is the water pump. If it is failing, the coolant will not effectively circulate between the radiator and engine block. This will cause the engine to overheat.

An obstruction in the cooling system will have a similar result. Some "leak stopping additives" can reduce coolant flow in the system to cause similar overheating issues.

Good luck!

Electric fan continue to run with engine hot or cold with engine turned off!

there is afuse box under the hood. Inside the fuse box is several relays. Unplug one at a time until the fans go off. Replace the relay that shuts down the fans. Hope this helps please leave comment.

I WAS PARKED IN MY CAR AND MY AIR WASN'T COLD ANY MORE AND MY CAR WAS OVER HEATING

Check for proper cooling fan operation (it's an electric fan behind radiator). It might even have a dual cooling fan. On most systems, one fan will come on and run continually anytime the a/c is on. This is commanded on by the ECM. If the cooling fan is not running, then there is no air flow across either the a/c condenser nor the engine radiator. The engine will therefore run hot and the compressed gas (freon) in the a/c cannot cool at the condenser - thus it will not cool the cabin properly. If the fault is indeed a cooling fan problem then you can proceed to troubleshoot that issue. Come back here for help if needed to sort it out.

When I turn on my car, even if it is cold or a hot day, the sound that is emitted from the engine bay sounds like a winding up noise and then it stops. It'll continue throughout the day as long as I am...

open the hood and locate cooling fan behind radiator.turn car on and note if sound is coming from it.some noise is normal,as is an electric cooling fan continuing to operate after shutting off car, until engine has cooled.

Engine coolant fans stay on when engine is cold

most electric fan motors will spin at 200 degrees, u may need to replace the entire fan unit or the thermostat, however, its no big deal if the fans keep running (just keep ur fingers clear cuz they are supposed to run if the engine is above 200 degress even if the ignition is off)

The fan motors keeps running after car is shut off. Also sometimes fans start when car is started cold.

If the fans didn't run any further the engine continues to warm and possible seizure will occur. This is also the reason you will probably go through batteries in the long run. Hopefully this helps the issue you are having.
