CAn I disable RAID on a DEll powervault 770n server

I have just purchased a Dell Powervault 770n for cheap. I am wondering if I can disable the raid configuration and put in different size SCSI hard drives as I have 2 X 18 GB 15K currently configured as 1 logical drive and a spare 36 GB 10 k drive.

Its called the JBOD RAID option - just a bunch of discs.

I don't know of any system that makes a RAID array an operational imperative, I would say the answer to your question is yes.

RTFM.

I have Dell PowerEdge 2550 Server. I want to configure RAID, but I can't reach RAID MENU! I have DELL 2550 Server BOOT CD and Dell OpenMenage Server Assistant V7.2. All of them are running, but I...

RAID menu will either be CTRL-A (if you are using the onboard PERC 3/Di) or CTRL-M (if you are using an addin PERC 3/4). If you are not seeing either of these options, then you may not have it enabled in the BIOS. In the BIOS (F2), go to Integrated Devices and make sure that RAID is Enabled. In order to enable RAID, your server MUST have a RAID key, RAID memory DIMM (different from system memory), and a RAID battery.

The Dell 2950 Server we have cannot reboot the disc drives

The raid may be fine you need to reinstall the OS.
The best way is to drop the raid array astablish a new raid array then install you new OS on a new raid array.Very nice server you have.

Poweredge 2600/Powervault 770N does not boot

I recommend that you first try replacing the power cord, if that doesn't work try replacing the power supply.

Operating System question

I don't KNOW that this will work, but what I'd reccomend is that you try using the drivers for windows 2000 on your windows XP machine
