We have a Samsung tv and our signal comes through ADSL via a router to the tv and the laptops in the home. It happens that the tv does not want to start. The remedies I use for that is what I have learned from my service providers. Start by disconnecting the tv,router from the electrisitity for a couple of minutes then try again, if the picture of the young lady appears on the screen and tells you to click on the remote for the picture to appear. If that does not work I disconnect all cables from electricity and turn the router off. Connect all cables again and find your station.
If nothing happens now than I start being irritated, and push the"source" button on the remote and reassure me that all cables are soundly in their place, he scart-plugs and all other plugs as well. And almost every time after this treatment the tv starts. It takes a lot of patience and thinking, but most often it works. (((-:
I had this same problem with my nx700 - I turned off the WiFi - and now it works just fine. Not ideal to not have WiFi - but I'd rather have it work just fine and get a Google/Apple TV than pay a couple hundred bucks, or more just to fix it from turning off and on on its own
Change the tv remote battery.Take some rubbing alchahol clean the remote sensor infer red LED light on the remote.Clean the tv sensor/remote board on the front of the tv with alchahol also.
For a three years old set, first place to look is the main power supply capacitors, at least the 5vdc standby circuit is working, the problem can be as bad as the main controller board, but look at the power supply first. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
There is possibly a loose solder joint in the horizontal drive circuit. There is a little coupling coil just before the horizontal output that will get loose. This should not be real expensive to have repaired.
