Bose SoundDock digital music system Docking Station for iPod - White (35703) Logo

Bose SoundDock burned out two of my iPods - a Nano and a classic.

After docking my iPod classic last week, the Bose soundDock wouldn't play it and then my iPod completely shut down, I could not reset it...dead. About two days later, my daughter put her Nano on the same Bose Dock and her Nano completely burned out. Can't reset. Dead. Gone. Flat lined. Any help for my sound dock???

Hi, can be a problem if you plug a later Apple device into a dock that doesn't support USB charging. There is a much higher voltage on the dock connector on the older docks. The power is presented on different pins but they are very close together and any damage to the connector and even a previous liquid spill can cause the higher voltage to get where it shouldn't. The most inexpensive way to solve this is to fit a USB charge upgrade. This removes the high voltage from the dock connector. To check if your dock needs it - go to the invebo.com site and enter your serial number - it will tell you which version of internal hardware you have and if it supports USB charging for the later Apple devices.

Um ur sounddock might require that u place the white docking piece that came with ur ipod to be place b4 the ipod is docked if not u may ruin the dock and the ipod usb port this is done because different generation ipods(nana and touch and ...) have different shapes so the entrance for docks may require to be eleveated or reduce in gradient basically if the dock isnt made for the specific ipod or u dont know just put the white piece in

Ipod classic 80GB makes a horrible popping noise with sounddock II

Sounds like there might be a loose connection between your iPod and the dock. Firstly make sure there is no dust or grit inside the female 30 pin of the iPod. Also make sure that there is no grit or dust around the male end on the dock. If there is grit or dust (or even if there isn't, some compressed air (you can buy this in a can) will help to clean out the connection. Also make sure that when you dock the iPod, it is seated on the dock properly. You should be able to see if it isn't seating properly. If this doesn't fix it and you are near an apple store, I would recommend taking the problem to them where they will be able to make sure that the iPod isn't causing the problem.

Hi. Try to reset the Nano by pressing the middle button and menu at the same time. If same thing happened, i suggest you need to have your sounddock system checked with the manufacturer.

New ipod nano not compatable with bose docking

This is true. The new iPod nano is not compatible with the original SoundDock. This only means that it won't charge the iPod's power. Audio should be okay. This is an Apple issue. They changed the way almost all of their iPods charge (except the iPod classic). Bose can upgrade the SoundDock for their normal repair fee of $99. This would also you a new 1 year warranty.

No sound from Bose SoundDock

I had this problem on my SoundDock. My iPod would charge on the dock just fine and when I played my iPod on the dock, it would look like it was playing, but have no sound. Since my Bose was out of warranty, this is what I did to fix it. #1 Unplug the adapter. #2 Unscrew the four large screws on the bottom of the speaker and the three small screws under the dock. #3 You'll see one long ribbon connection and one very short one. Check to see if the ribbon connector coming from the front of the speaker system came loose from the green board. You'll only be able to see 1/2 an inch of it sticking out, and it's not easy to plug it back in, but it's possible. Just take your time. #4 Carefully put everything back together being very careful not to let the ribbon fall out of the plug again. #5 Make sure to plug in the DC adapter the correct way. There's a very subtle difference, but there is a difference. There are four prongs - two are square and two have slightly rounded corners. If it's not plugged in the correct way, the dock will have a static clicking sound. On my adapter, the words "DC power" are on the top of the plug.

Gen 3 nano and bose docking station

Have you tried another iPod on it?? I suspect that if you do, that one won't work either. If it's a Bose SoundDock then they are well known for having problems with the iPod connector getting loose. Try with another iPod. If results are the same, take your SoundDock back. Bose should exchange it straight away.
