Picture went blush all of a sudden, slight hot burnt smell. Disconected power took back off, left projector very hot. get it fixed or buy new tv
I would check your Blue crt socket for loose solder joints. Thats the board that plugs into the crt. I would also check the resistors near the convergence Ics heat sink either open or bad solder joints. Let me know what you find. Look over the solder joints with a magnifying glass and use a digital ohms meter to check resistors remove one lead from the circuit when you test the resistors your reading will be accurate that way.
Your lens assembly is evidently broke. Unless you feel comfortable discharging a CRT this is something that can be done if you proceed with Caution. The Crt Lead must stay in the crt (Red Lead) its discounted from the High Voltage block some have tabs that release this lead others are simply twisted and pulled out. Be sure to ground the lead to the Chassis to discharge the CRT THIS IS VERY CRITICAL DO NOT TOUCH THE LEAD END THAT CAME FROM THE HV BLOCK GROUND IT TO THE METAL CHASSIS FIRST. HIGH VOLTAGE WILL BE PRESENT. once its discharged proceed with removing the crt module, verticle and horizontal yoke wire clips from the chassis. Leave the yoke and purity rings on the crt just disconnect the wire clips where they attach to the chassis. There should be 4 screws that hold the lense assembly to the crt bloch. Remove them and carefully lift the crt up and out of its mount. You may want to cover the chassis incase of any leaking CRT coolant as this is highly corrosive to the circuits should any spill. Once you have the CRT out remove the plug and drain the coolant this contains Glycol so discard it accordingly. The lense assembly should also be attached with 4 screws usually spring loaded this is no doubt where your problem is at this junction. Proceed slowly, and let me know if you need me to clarify anything further.
A pro would charge you probaly 400 to 600 to replace the blue tube. You could do this yourself. The new tube would be probaly 200 to 300 depending on where you purchase it from. Give me the number on the tube and I can get a lead on one if you would like. Yes the tube could still have voltage present the tube could have cracked due to heat, low coolant level etc. I would op to fix the set depending on what you could find a new CRT for.
I would say that your new convergence board should be fine,as long as that didnt get extremely hot as those chips run fairly hot so you should be allright with the new board.
The CRT Socket should just pull off from the end of the picture tube. Some have some epoxy holding it firm but the glob of epoxy is easily pulled off. No the yoke doesnt come with a new tube you will have to remove yours along with the purity rings. They have a screw that loosens them and they slide on. Some times the yoke is bonded but after releasing the screw clamp a firm twist will get it to slide off.

You need to change your power supply wire and check out that the wire is not open from inside circuit and it may be short circuit
Maybe High Voltage Transformer, you can have a board replaced easier than buying a new set.

after cooling down tv works great had it on for 4 hours today no problem. Seems that there is alot of heat coming from board that stk392-404 3-Channel Convergence Correction Circuit is on, if it is high voltage transfomer good quese at how much this would cost to replace would be nice. thanks
Have disconnected convergence board from chassis and isolated. Five minutes after TV is turned on, heat sink connected to convergence board is hot enough that you cannot touch it for more than a few seconds.
There are some plastic channel parts on chassis that heat sink was up against. This is where burning smell came from.
TV seems to operate fine in this manner. Is heat sink supposed to be this hot?
Convergence board was repaired 9 months ago by a professional...possible that it was put back without protection or shield to keep heat contained.
replaced convergance board today, turned set on picture was very blue after about 2 minutes there was a sparking sound unplugged right away. plugged set back in while looking from back no pictue all lenes off there was a strong electric arck on board attached to the bottom off blue lens unplugged right away. next step waould be?
the crt module under the blue lamp seems to be lose, disconected swings back and forth with just a little push
the part that appears lose is wherer the crt joins the lens there is a conical piece facing down the crt swings freely at this point the red and green crt s are soildly fix at this point
ok so I pulled the front of the tv off to get a better view of the crt. Looks like the crt is broken where it is attached to what i think is called the gun Glass is actually split, Think it might be time to consider new tv. Any idea how much a pro would charge Any idea what would have caused this to happen. can this crt still be holding a charge in its current state. did not get a spark when discharge voltmeter reads 0. If I desided to play with this for fun when could I get these parts. (Have to take it apart to get down the stairs anyway put on second story when I did addition before wall where closed in won't fit down stairs)

When convergance board was going out it was so hot could not touch heat sink,it is attached to fram right at blue lens connection witch was also very hot,am assuming if I try to fix this set I sould keep new convergance board could tube blowing30- 90 sec after I installed new board have damged board
does the crt includ the yoke and board attached if not how does the crt conect disconnect I have out of tv and coolant drained coolent level was about 3/4 up view plud just a hair below breather hole
