    If you have a repair disk, of course you can try it to crack Windows password. But if you don't have maybe you can consider using Ophcrack.     If you are not worried about data lose you can re-install your system directly. If you are, you can use a blank DVD/CD or format USB flash drive to download Windows Login Recovery on your friend's pc to create a reset disk. Ways you can search from Google can be many. So which one will be the best in your opinion? But I think if with an admin password using it to login will be the best way. And with a reset disk to reset it can be the best reset tool. The two are free. For paid one reset software, Anmosoft Windows Password Reset can be the best one for me. It is bios password.
Now if you forgot it then you have reset your bios settings.
For that you have to open back cover of laptop.
Then find motherbord pull CMOS cell from motherbord for 10 minutes then put again to it's position.
Then it not ask for password.

    CMOS battery is round cell it is on motherbord.
    Open back cover of laptop then you find motherbord chipset.
    On motherbord you find 1 round CMOS cell battery pull it for 10 minutes so all setings are defaults.

Please remove the battery on the motherboard. For this you will have to remove the plates that are there on the bottom of the laptop. Remove them one by one to locate the battery. It is a button cell about one inch in diameter. Remove it for a minute or so and then replace it. Replace the cover and screw it up tight. And do not pass words in future as we all tend to forget them sooner or later.

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your Dell Inspirion laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.
