I have taken tons of pictures with my handycam but when I go to get them printed off the camera they are TERRIBLE quality. I was told that this takes great pictures. What am i doing wrong.
I have heard that that they are great for recording video but if you want great pic's you should use your digital camera. before buying mine they told me that it wouldn't take great still pic's because of the megapixels or something.

DPI (dots per inch) is an output parameter and is completely irrelevant to the camera.
Imagine taking a picture that's 2000 pixels by 3000 pixels. When you make a 4x6 print, you're printing at 500 dpi. If you make a 8x12 print, you're printing at 250 dpi. Either way, it's exactly the same picture as taken by the camera. The camera doesn't know what size print you're going to make, so it just puts in a default value. The dpi is set when you print the picture, not when you take it.
DPI (dots per inch) is an output setting and is irrelevant as far as the camera is concerned.
Imagine you're taking a picture that's 2000 by 3000 pixels. At the time you take the picture, do you care how big you print it? When you get home and make a 4x6 print, you're printing at 500 dpi. If you make a 8x12 print, you're printing at 250 dpi. Either way, you're printing the exact same picture as taken by the camera. Since the camera doesn't know how big a print you're going to make, it simply puts in a default value for the dpi.
You may be short on memory. Check your settings. Are you taking images in the 'max' setting? In most cases you do not need to burn 5 Mb per image if you are printing 4x6 prints, then 300k should be fine. This will free up your memory card.
The memory stick can only be used for taking still pictures (which are of terrible quality). Your only option for creating space on your hard drive is to delete items. Before that you can upload videos to your computer and/or burn them on DVDs. Sony actuallly has a DVD burner called DVDirect where you can burn DVDs without the use of a computer. I hope this helps.
i just got a new camera the dimagne x50 and i brang it out today and it was working fine it didnt drop or anything i took a picture then turned it off then i turned it on agian and when it was on the camera format the light kept on blinking yellow for the longest time and wouldnt let me take a picture so i tried the video format and it worked so im just wondering why the video format is working and not the camera ? has this happened to you? is there any way of fixing it?
Nope but my daughters is doing the exact same thing. She has not sent it home to me to check but I thought about taking the battery out and leaving it without power for 24 hours to see if it clears
