We have had this side by side just a few days over a year now. On the freezer side ice can coat the sides and back. Food is so covered with ice you can't read the writing on our packages. I think we are getting a thaw in between times that alternates with the frost. Sometimes the freezer is dripping water from thaw, and then comes the frost. Even if the freezer is set at 7 or 8 it will have a thaw at times. Icecubes don't stay separate, but also seem to experience these fluctuations. The cubes then mold to the plastic thingey that pushes the cubes out, so no cubes can come out and the motor stops working. We have to remove the ice tray and let it thaw to get the ice out. Other times so many ice cubes come out it the ice tray jams in and we can't remove it and of course then the ice cube dispenser won't work. What a bummer, my first side by side that I saved up for and I don't have the money for a repair man.
For some reason my post has disappeared. I left you with a lot of information and now All I have is a clarification request. Something is going on with the server here today.Sea Breeze
Testimonial: "Sea Breeze is amazing ; ) I have a great basis of information when the service man arrives next week. Thank U!!"
Here is basically what will need to be done in the attached PDF. Different model number than yours but same parts and procedures except I will add two sites I want you to read because your defrost drain appears to be blocked also. A freezer is the best dehumidifier there is. There should not be ice clinging anywhere but the rear panel. Thanks, Sea Breeze Click these links about defrost freezing drain repair and I will be here when you return. Most likely part number WR51X10101 Defrost Heater has burned out. Unplug and remove the rear panel inside the freezer. Defrost with a hair dryer and examine the defrost heater and look to see if burned out, It has a glass tube around the heater element and will be easy to see if burned out. If you need to replace the defrost heater you should also replace the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10054 If you don't see a problem with the defrost heater and I will instruct you on how to manually defrost to test the heater and defrost thermostat. Check for bad connections on wiring to heater and defrost thermostat. Your model has a mother control board part number WR55X10942 We may also need to check that because it does the thinking and determines the time for defrost. Let me Know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze
And a service manual that has a lot o similar information to assist you in your repair Click here=> PROFILE ARTICA REPAIR MANUAL
And the location on the board to cause a test of the defrost circuit.
Go to page 7 in the PDF Manual of the refrigerator you have from the web page you sent me http://products.geappliances.com/ApplPro...
I downloaded the manual from that page and attached it to this email. The instructions are on page 7. You can unplug the refrigerator if you like, but the water should not come on unless you should press the door switch in and pressed the dispenser control while the power is on. Buy your new filter and be ready to follow the directions in the manual. The drain hole in the fresh food compartment should have nothing to do with any blockage unless the water enters that area during defrost and that drain opening also had a blockage. When you place the new filter inside the holder you do need to fill the filter body and new filter with water to prevent air from being in the filter and causing air to be trapped inside and would cause a longer purge of the water just to get the air out. Yes, the hole in bottom and back of freezer should not have ice or water sitting there in the opening. And as I keep reading I get clues that the ice maker is over filling I think you mean to say and then a long thaw? If a compressor stops running because the condenser fan below the refrigerator will stop cooling and a drastic change in temperatures in the fresh food section and the freezer will begin to take place. I have heard of the defrost thermostat sticking and the defrost heater remains on too long to the point of almost melting the back wall. and defrosting the food near the back. Also your model has an electronic ice maker and sometimes they start telling the water control valve to open when it should not. Also the possibility of a leak in the dual water control valve and the fill tube is overfilling the ice maker and all the extra water remains in side the freezer. I need you to get me the temperature readings from inside the freezer and fresh food sections. Look close to where the moisture is coming into the freezer. If the drain is clear and the back panels don't have ice build up then the defrost is OK. Also Milton I think was trying to say look for warm moist air being drawn into the freezer. That can happen if the defrost element under the Ice Maker remains on. It also will tell the water control valve to come on and overflow the ice maker. The dispenser chute door is stuck open or seals around the door are bad and air has no choice but to be drawn in. Your main board knows how may times a day the door has been opened and adjust the defrost time to the run time of the compressor. Something simple like a light staying on in the freezer or fresh food section will change run and defrost times and keep the compressor running. The the damper door between the freezer and the refrigerator gets stuck open or closed and sometime they are electrically controlled. So get me the temp readings for both sides. Not what the display says I need thermometers. Defrost condensate collection pan under the freezer should show some water after a defrost. Pour some water into the freezer hole and see if it ends up in the pan below the refrigerator where it's returned to the air inside your home.

He needs to check the defrost heater first. If defective replace the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. He should not tell you first to replace the circuit board first because that is a costly scam! And while the back is open you should ask to pour some hot water and Clorox mixed into the defrost drain to kill the algae and scum that collects over a period of time. This will also tell you if the defrost drain is working properly and will help remove any accumulated trash in the line. Remember the manual I sent you covers a broad range of models not just you specific model. If You want to see a break down of your model click Here=> GSH22SXA
There are 6 model that GE provides similar model numbers for, just chose one. They are basically the same and I don't know for sure how you got the XA suffix will need to ask GE about That, Good Luck and Thanks, Sea Breeze
OH dont forget to put your model number into the model search box and click find. Sea Breeze

Sounds to me your model MSD2651HEB has two problems. If you
see icicle forming near
where the water enters the ice maker the problem is the water control valve is
defective and allowing water to enter the ice maker even after the ice maker is
already filled with the next ice harvest. To repair the ice maker overfill
problem you will need to replace the=> 67006531
Dual Water Control Valve
67006531 Dual Water Contriol Valve
. I am pretty sure you are having a defrost drain blockage problem. Most defrost every eight hours and over a period of time the drain line that comes down from freezer into a cup like object top middle and back of the fresh food section. If blocked by gunk or ice you will see trails of liquid leaking down the rear wall of fresh food compartment until it reaches the crisper drawers. This is not always the same with every model as you may see frozen ice flowing down the rear wall of freezers on side by sides. Every refrigerator is made different so these are examples only. The key is to find if ice or just gunk has blocked you defrost drain. Unplug and then remove the rear panel in back of freezer. We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! If you have questions please ask, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Usually answered in minutes!
I've already checked. The dispenser closes very well, something else is going on
Door seals are fine. Sorry I forgot the J. When I take the number from the metal plate on the upper side of the refrigerator the model number is listed as GSH22JSXA Its stainless steel, so ends with another set of SS.
This is the refrigerator I have http://products.geappliances.com/ApplPro...
I don't see the information you are speaking of. The same answer as yesterday LOL. I'll be gone for the rest of the day today but will check back when home again. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Now I can't seem to add comments to the post???
My comments also disappear after posting
Well Rebek95 If you think you can work with me and know how to do some things with diagnostics or know someone that can help you, I will be able to help you. First I would like you to double check your model number as I am un able to locate a GSH22SXA
However I do show these model numbers GSH22SGPASS GSH22SGPBSS GSH22SGPCSS GSH22SGPDSS GSH22SGRBSS GSH22SGRESS
Let me know what you find because answering your question correctly depends on the correct model, Thanks Sea Breeze
I own a ge refrigerator model gsh22jsxa ss. I have had it for 4 years and have had problems the first year. The rubber sealer came a loose the first year and the ice maker would make too much ice and get jam. The next year I had problems with defrosting and continue to have problem. My food is cover in ice and the freezer leaks. Since my third year of having I have problem with the refrigerator side staying cold. I am disappointed and upset because this is one of the worst purchases I have ever made and it was not cheap. I will never by GE appliances again.
