Speaker phone Can you use the 550 as a speaker phone while it is being charged via usb ?  Yes the computer is plugged in.

On the rear of the speaker, you should see a female receptacle, probably the same as your phone. the other end is a usb which would plug into the computer to charge or you can pick up a 5volt wall charger that the usb cable plugs into and the charger plugs into the wall. Any walmart, fry's, radio shack has the readily available.

I am having the same problem, did you find a fix for this? ... not support audio output, then you need to add a Bluetooth adapter which includes a CD driver.

depends on the make and model
could be via micro usb cable plugged into a micro usb port on speaker and USB port on computer
could be via a ac - dc adapter if a much larger speaker .

Try using the 5v power adaptor socket instead off the USB connection, see manual.

Also check the battery is secure inside the speaker.
The charging light is RED.
The laptop must be "on" all the time to charge via the USB socket!

Unit should have come with a usb cable. If it did not, look at what type of connector is on the speaker,(mini usb), or take the unit to your local electronics store (Radio Shack) and have them help you find the proper cable or power supply, you should be able to plug your speaker into the USB port on your computer which will then charge the batteries (if they are recharable)

It's a relatively cheap speaker. If it doesn't charge via usb the speaker is defective. No repairs are available.

Yes cell phones can charge through the computer. This is via a usb data cable. My phone (L7) charges through the computer after being connected to it via a usb cable. You need to connect it as a memory device or a modem. In case of modem u need to install the proper drivers. For each phone this feature may vary.So please check whether the battery meter is moving when it's plugged to the computer.
