I've had an issues on my Hotpoint WT761 Washing Machine tripping out, a few seconds after turning the machine on it would trip a a resetable fuse in my fuse box. I removed the connection to the Heating Element at the back of the machine and the machine would then work fine not tripping out. Seen similar problem on this website and The problem is caused by a faulty element that can cause the trip out. Took the heating element out and found it to be extremely coroded and in a couple of places the metalwork hadd correde through to the actual element core. Procured a new Heating Element. On fitting the new heating element the machine appeared to work fine. Put it on a 30 min / 30 Degree wash, machine runs and can feel the machine is heating the water. After approx 20 minutes the machine stopped and indicated a Faut Code F-08 on the front panel. Has any one got any ideasof what could be wrong? Could it be that the Heating element I fitted is faulty? Could there be a second problem on the machine that was caused when the machine tripped out originaly

Take off the back and reset the overheat protection, it should be a little red button , maybe the unit was not reset when installed

Hello I've got a hotpoint washing machine model wml520 the electric door switch had melted on it I replaced it with a new one but the washer won't start any ideas thanks.

If your Hotpoint washing machine is not starting after you replaced the electric door switch, there could be a few different issues causing the problem. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the power supply and make sure that the washing machine is properly plugged in and receiving power.
  2. Check the fuse or circuit breaker to make sure that the washing machine is not tripping any electrical circuits.
  3. Make sure that the door switch is properly installed and fully seated in the door latch assembly. If the door switch is not properly installed, the machine may not start.
  4. Check the wiring and make sure that there are no loose or damaged connections.

HOTPOINT WASHING MACHINE wmf540

You will have to find the component in the machine that has
gone live to neutral, live to eath or neutral to earth if it is protected by a RCCBO. Check on the back of the printed circuit board for "BLOWS" black marks blown components.

Washing machine has blown a fuse and tripped the curcuit breaker

I hate to say this but a blown fuse in that machine wouldnt trip the breaker, so if you turn the breaker on and it stays on until you start the machine the motor is probably shorted and need to be replaced

F-08 error message on Hotpoint Washing machine WT761? The original fault on the machine was that it was tripping out and taking out a resetable fuse in my fuse box a few seconds after turning the machine...

If it works fine with the heater off then i would say that fault appears to be element..the readings you get seem okay, put you meter onto megs and check, with wires off if you get electrical leakage between live and earth...Body....of element, it could be element is heating with no water in machine causing it to burn out..this is a problem with this machine...Wish you well

Hotpoint WD72 - Plug Fuse Blows on Final Spin/Rinse

Hello thesquiffys
Welcome,

You said,
During final spin/rinse a vibrating/buzzing noise begins behind the from panel and which appears to be coming from just to the right of the soap drawer. After a few seconds, either the trip throws on the household consumer unit, or on one occasion, the fuse in the mains plug blew as well. Have noticed (don't know if connected) that soap drawer is often found containing water after machine is finished.

1.The soap dish needs to be cleaned out, holes clogged. The instructions for this
process is in the user guide and I'll paste the site below for you in case you do not have it available to you.
2.The noise sounds like a short or electrical problem starting.
For this you will need a hands on diagnoses.
TRY doing the soap drawer first to be sure that it is not the culprit!

The book can be found here and the drawer info on page 12:

Washing machine keeps tripping electric switch

Hiya,
there is a few things that will do this to your electics 1st & formost if your trip switch is tripping off remember this is a safty device to prevent fire so ignoring the problem & switching the power back on to try again could run the risk of fire!!

when the power trips you will need to know at what point in the wash this happens if its when the machine is emptying then it would be a pump issue if the machine is emptying no problem then the issue is more likely to be the motor either of which would need to be replaced if you are having these problems.

on rare ocasions you can spring a leak & if water gets on the electrics this will also trip the power but this is 1 of the least likely posabilatys.. rest assured if the power is tripping off then your home electrics are working fine & to confirm all sockets run from 1 main fuse all lights run from a second main fuse then there is a few other bits that run on there on fuses too i.e. cooker, power shower etc.. remember always get a qualified electrician to work on your electrics to ensure the job is carried out correctly

Hope this helps

Hotpoint WD51 fuse issue

is it the motor that got hot?, if so then check the motor carbons for wear, as these heat up when worn, also if the carbons are fine check the pump and filters for blockages, this makes the motor spin while water is still in the machine causing the motor to overheat, and subsequently tripping and blowing the fuses etc hope i have helped a little
