Brushes not working

The bottom brushes are not working, all it's doing is vacuuming with suction. The edge brush is still turning though.

If the brushes are clean and yellow ends on the brushes spin freely, then you've done all you can without replacing or reconditioning the brush drive assembly. If its under warranty replace the assembly.

If the warranty has expired and you have the skill, you can remove the assembly and vacuum it aroundthe motor. Next remove the screws from the side plate to reveal the gear train. Its probably full of dirt you should clean out. Oil or grease would accelerate the rate at which dust is trapped. To lubricate the gear faces and pivots points I recommend dry powdered graphite. Its available at hardware stores and its most commonly used for lubricating locks, and woks well for me in the Roomba brush gear train.

How is a Dyson Cinetic Big Ball supposed to get suction when in the rotating brush mode?

There is a short tube at the bottom and the changeover valve that switches from tools to the floor when you pull the handle back into vacuuming mode. Make sure the valve is switching back and forth smoothly and properly.

Riccar 8995 no suction

If it's been over a year since you've replaced the belt that is the first place to start. Stretch belts lose elasticity and will still turn the brush roll but when the brush roll is lowered to the carpet it may not turn fast enough to pick up properly. If you have good suction at the end of the hose check to make sure there is not an obstruction in the tube where the hose goes into the bottom of the vacuum to the brush roll. Make sure your filters are replaced at least once per year and the bag is not full or has a lot of fine powder dust in it which can clog the bag.

I have a wind tunnel vacuun and the roller will not turn

There is only one motor which turns the turbine and brush. Therefore, if the suction from the turbine works check the belt by removing the bottom plate of the vacuum and look for the belt attached to the brush roller or if only a piece of the broken belt is inside the unit. If the belt is attached and intact look for a mechanical switch to turn on and off the brush and make sure it is not on bare floor or off. Look on one of the edges of the brush assembly for the clutch which is attached to the mechanical brush switch with a rod. The clutch will close and open when you move the mechanical switch. If you cannot turn the brush unit by hand you may need to remove some objects such as string or hair from wrapped around the clutch or brush.

Brush wont rotate

Without known the type or model of the vacuum you can only check a few generic design futures.

Brush not turning and no suctions !

If the cogs on the belt and brush roll are ok, then probably the cogs on the pulley are worn off, or the pump isn't turning, is the flat belt ok? If all of this is ok, then replace the pump, part # 2107181If no suction, is the black oblong gasket on the top of the clear window. It seals the gap between the tank and the window, no suction if it is gone. Also should be a red plastic screen on the edge of the tank lid, it may be clogged.

Main Brush Failure

first check if the brush motor is turning before you spend money on a new brush roller and belt. remove the belt by unscrewing the screws holding the brush cover ( the part touching the floor ) and slip the belt of the rotor. turn the vacuum on, and the brush on while the vacuum is in a reclined position. if the motor is not moving, you need a new motor.
