Question about KitchenAid Dishwashers

2 Answers

My KitchenAid dishwasher model # kudp01ilbl2 won't start. It is the first time we're trying to start it since we had our water heater replaced (three, maybe four days ago). Not sure how much that may matter. I tried turning off electricity to the dishwasher at the fusebox (overnight), but that did nothing. Normally, you just need to hit the start button and the washing begins. Now, nothing happens. The dishwasher is about six years old.

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher LIghts are blinking....

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

SOURCE: Flashing "Washing" light on my frigidaire 1000 series dishwasher

Possible solution. I had the same problem of "washing" light flashing last year and now today. Warranty has been expired for awhile, so no harm in trying. What worked for my situation was removing the six screws for the back of the plastic control cover. Take of the plastic cover. There are are two connectors to the HANDLE with white and black wires. To be safe I would shut off the ciruit to the dishwasher. Safety first. Carefully disconnect and inspect the contacts inside the connectors. Do not insert any metal objects if you left the power on. I believe that the moisture from the dishwasher can degrade the connectivity. I cleaned the contacts with q-tips and re-installed. Be careful to not bend the contacts. If you had sound, you could hear my dishwasher running. Total cost is about three cents. I believe that the connectors do not full close when corroded, which prevents the completion of the circuit to the controlls. The flashing light indicates that the door is open, when in fact it is closed. Hopefully this will help someone. Semper Fi

Buttons on the dishwasher's control panel is not working. When starting a "normal" load, it switches to "clean" and does not start the wash.

Hello. Most likely, the humming sound you hear is a jammed drain pump which is activated immediately to pump out any stale or standing water below the level which you can see. Then, fresh, hot water enters the tub to start washing the dishes. I need the model number and exactly what lights are blinking--those blinking lights are error codes(combinations of 2 or more lights, one light blinking a certain number of times, then blinking again, a different number of times--ex 3 times, then 7 times) the lights blink a binary error code--thats why I need the model number to look up the code on the chart

Why does my Kitchenaid dishwasher model 8524569 run so long?

It is likely the heater is not working effeciently and takes a long time to heat the water to the set temperature. Try and run the rinse cycle and see if that takes much shorter as this does not need to heat the water. Please provide the full model number- xxx. xxxx or KUD..etc.

Shuts off mid cycle

it is likely the heater or thermostat are faulty. Try to run in short cycle like rinse which works on cold water.

Kitchenaid dishwasher KDC-18 works but the water does not get hot just cold. Any solution?

Dishwasher must be connected to a hot water line in order to work properly. Also, it often requires a good deal of time for hot water to make its way from the water heater to the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is located under the kitchen counter, turn on the hot water in the sink until it runs hot, then start the dishwasher.

Many dishwashers have a built in heater, but hot water should be initially fed into the dishwasher through the water inlet in order for it to perform properly.

My Kitchenaid dishwasher is not turning on. I hired a repair man who charged me $108 to replace the fuse. The dishwasher worked for a few minutes, but then failed before the cycle was over. He then said...

something is blowing the fuse==a direct short somewhere. I would never use that repair guy again, $288 later, dishwasher should work. just trying parts is not a repairman, its a parts seller. if you cannot find the short, not worth replacing parts. and obviously 288 almost buys a new dishwasher. good luck and call his boss and complain about the repair and ask for your money back

TAKES A LONG TIME,

Takes a long time to what? If the entire cycle seems to take forever, one suggestion is to make sure your hot water heater is turned up. Most dishwashers requires the water to be a minimum of 120 degrees before the timer will begin. If you are using a Sani-Wash cycle, then the water need to heat up to 165 degrees. The heater can only heat the water 1 degree per minute, so if the water coming in to the dishwasher is only 100 degrees, it will take an additional 65 minutes before it will even start the cycle. You can also make sure you get the water at the sink hot before you start the dishwasher, this will ensure the hottest water is going in (only fills for 90 seconds).

Kud101 diswasher heater element

The dishwasher will heat the water to a temp of aprox 140deg if the heater is not working then the dishwasher will not shut off because it has to heat the water to a point where a thermostat will close during the heating time the dishwasher time stops advancing, also heater is used to heat the air for dry cycle
