The chances are that the person who supplied it to you gave you a Phillips remote for another VCR. Many makers remotes will work parts of a different model of the same firm, but only the true remote will operate ALL functions.
If you have the user manual check to see if it list the part number of the remote. If you don't have it look around the net for Philips VR630 remote. See if it matches yours. If it doesn't you will have to replace it.

Well the instruction manual will not have information on the wiring but i did include below a link to the instruction manual. Please give some more detail on what in the wiring do you need assistance with?

I get the same problem with one tape (it's about 20 minutes long) .. it also shows a '4' ... when you press the power button it ejects the tape... some tapes are fine ...
