Pole Saw RPS96 - - Saw 108526-01 - - The outer clamp/nut that holds the pole at the selected length has split. I guess I could use a clamp to secure it, but I'd like to replace with the correct part. Can anyone help?

Your pole saw is at the bolttom of the page here:
http://www.desaparts.com/remington-chainsaw.html
The parts list that appears is a chainsaw. Please phone them @ 1-800-475-5660, ask for assistance and explain this little glitch. Thanks HTH

Chain adjuster on Maxtra pole saw problem

Contact Jack's Small Engines for parts.

The Bar adjustment is normally a nut that screws onto a fixed threaded bolt. My advice would be to replace the nuts with Nyloc nuts and grip washers or use Loctite Red on what you have.

I can zoom in on this image, but the resolution isn't good enough to see the bar fixing clearly.

How do you attach the chainsaw to the pole?

You simply mount the saw between the two metal plates.
There are two screws holding the plates together.
Look in the owners manual and it will guide you how to attach the saw.
Once the saw is attached, plug in the power cable that is on the end of the pole. One word of advice....there is a large locking collar ring that enables the two poles to extend and lock together. There has been numerous reports that the locking collar ring splits due to overexersion. You can add a stainless worm clamp (similar to a radiator hose clamp) around the rind and tighten it securely. Be sure it is a heavy duty wide clamp. This will help to keep the ring from splitting under pressure.

I need coupling collar for my remington pole saw

My connecting nut was broken to the extent the threads were shattered. I cut off the rest of the plastic nut with an oscillating tool. Used the same tool to extend the slits on the plastic male piece then used a 1 3/4" E-Z hose Clamp from the auto store to squeeze the slotted piece. Works great and with the E-Z handle on the clamp it's easy to adjust the pole length. Cost was less than $5. May have to use a pair of pliers to turn the E-Z tight enough. Will attempt to load a picture.

How do I put the saw on the pole

1. Remove battery from chain saw.

2. Separate main handle from chain saw

power head by pressing both release

buttons on main handle and pulling

apart. The release buttons are just in

front of the trigger.

3. Align rib on chain saw power head with

groove in power head adapter on pole.

4. Slide power head into power head

adapter until units "snap" together.

IMPORTANT: Both release

buttons on power head adapter must be

fully engaged.

5. Align rib on handle adapter on pole

with groove in main handle.

6. Slide main handle into handle adapter

until units "snap" together.

IMPORTANT: Both release buttons

on main handle must be fully

engaged.

7. Slide battery onto main handle until

release buttons "snap" together.

Be sure the battery is charged.

To extend the pole:

1. Loosen the clamping

lever. Pole will slide

freely.

2. Pull inner pole section out to desired

length of extension.

3. To lock pole in position, tighten clamping

lever.

I have the model 108526-01 Remington pole saw which has the round pole with a plastic compression nut (which recently broke). Can I buy the newer octagonal pole and if so, does it use the same saw mounting...

I have the sollution, had the same problem with the broken compression nut. Just use two hose clamps, one to hold the pole extended and the other clamps around compression base. Its a cheap easy fix and it work great fo me. The Real Mr.Fixit
