If the hose has suction in the upright position, and the floor has no suction in the normal use position, check for obstruction in the dirt path from the agitator cavity, thru the short hose, into the lower handle.

My V20 stick vacuums beater bar runs for a little while then quits, I've cleaned the bar by removing the bar to clean the dirt, strings and ect and also took the end of the bar off and cleaned it also

It's good that you have cleaned the beater bar and the end of it, as this is often the cause of the problem when the beater bar stops spinning.
If cleaning the beater bar and end of it did not resolve the issue, there are a few other things you can try:
  1. Check the belt: The belt connects the motor to the beater bar and if it is damaged or stretched, it can cause the beater bar to stop spinning. To check the belt, turn the vacuum over and locate the belt. If it is damaged or stretched, you will need to replace it.
  2. Check for debris in the brush roll housing: Debris can sometimes get stuck in the brush roll housing and cause the beater bar to stop spinning. To check for debris, remove the brush roll and look for any foreign objects that may be stuck in there.
  3. Check for a clog in the hose or the suction path: A clog in the hose or suction path can also cause the beater bar to stop spinning. To check for a clog, remove the hose and use a flashlight to look for any blockages. If you find a clog, use a broom handle or similar object to carefully remove it.
If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, it is possible that there is a problem with the motor or another internal component of the vacuum. In this case, it may be necessary to have a professional repair it.

Dyson dc40 brush bar not turning

The wind tunnel cones at the top of the vacuum need to be cleaned. There are eight of them I believe. Also there is a round foam rubber filter between the cannisters and the top of vacuum where beater is. As far as bar not turning, there is a switch that turns off the beater bar so the vac can be used on hardwood floors

My vacum will not pick up, it is spitting the dirt out?

Check for blockage.

Most likely place is in the tube leading up from behind the beater bar. While unplugged, remove beater bar & belt & check.

If you have a strong shop vac, remove beater bar, belt, and bag, applying suction to the tube in back of the beater bar will many times dislodge the clog with little effort, sometimes though it will take some fishing around with a stiff piece of coathanger wire or similar.

Normally when you can apply suction with the shop vac to the tube in back of the beater bar & feel suction at the tube were the bag connects, you know you've got it all and you should be unclogged. Put it back together and you should be ready to roll.

Beater bar not working. suction not working

Check for a broken beater brush belt. Clean the beater brush, clear of all debris and add some WD40 at each end where the rubber holders are. Turn beater brush by hand to work the WD40 into the axle. Reassemble making sure the belt is on correctly. This should also help solve the suction problem as well.

My Hoover Wind Tunnel has no suction, unless I use the hose and wands. It is less than a year old. Where do I take it to get repaired?

Before you take it anywhere, please check the following:
1- Make sure the belt that runs the beater brush on the bottom has not broken. 2- Be sure the beater brush has not frozen up due to debris. You should be able to move it by hand. Best to remove the brush, clean all debris as best you can and add some WD40 to the rubber pieces at each end of the brush. Turn the rubber pieces to work the WD40 into axle at the end of the brush until they move easy and reassemble.

The suction is quite poor, also definite burning smell after normal use. we only have about 3 years would it be the engine

I would check the drive belts for the beater brush and make sure the beater brush itself is free to move in the holders. Clean the beater brush of all debris and add a bit of WD40 on the two ends between the brush and the holders.
I do not charge for my advice. : )

No suction using extension hose for Bissell Bagless Upright vacuum. i checked for clogs and found nothing. shannon

Check the sole plate where the beater bar is. You may have to remove the roller brush flap to get into the roller brush and then check the main dust channel beside it. Usually if there's no suction on the hose it means that:
1) The hose is blocked 2) The filters are needing cleaned / washed and dried for 24 hours or see my tips! 3) There is dust clogging after the beater bar/roller brush.

No suction

you still have a clog in there something is keeping the brushes from spinning. Be sure to remove any hair/string etc twisted around the brushes. Make sure the belt hasn't slipped off the metal pin behind the brushes, this is what creates the rotation. The brushes have a hard plastic molding on each end that fit into the sides of the vacuum. Make sure you have these on the right way or they will strip out and you have to replace the housing and the brushes. Have you cleared any blockages from the feed behind the brushes? Be sure to take the hose and extend it out and run a broom handle or something down it to be sure you do not have something lodged in there. Good luck .. if you need more detail post back. These can be rebuilt if needed, hopefully it is just something lodged further down the suction canal.

No upright suction

This means that you have something plugging the main camber where the dirt enters through beater bar head.check that out. biigg53566
