Pictures they are distorted

Recently purchased the Coolpix S550 not too long ago and it worked great. But now when I take pictures they are distorted. Half of the picture will be shifted, horizontally parts of the picture will be colored differently (usally it's 1/2 or 2/3 of the image). I thought it may have been a bad memory card but bought a new one and it is still producing the same results.

The problem sounds like a faulty sensor. Still under warranty? Take it back.

Whenever I take a picture with my Nikon Coolpix S550 camera the picture has white horizontal lines in it.

I´ve got the same problem and think, that it`s the ccd unit.

Someone is offering the lens with ccd unit on ebay.

Best regards

Fite

I bought the Nikon Coolpix about two years ago. Suddenly all the pictures taken are overexposed. What do I do?

Two things to check...ISO (should be auto ISO or a setting between 100-400) and Exposure Compensation (should be set to "0")

The self timer on my Nikon Coolpix S550 will not

Isn't there a button on the camera with a picture of a clock? Push that to reach the proper setting menu.

When using my coolpix s550 i cannot select Continuous mode

The same thing happened to me. So frusterating! Make sure it is in shooting mode. Go to the shooting mode menu and go all the way down the page to "Distortion Control". Change it to off. Now you can select continuous mode.

How to protect pictures so they do not get deleted

Best way is to only delete them 1 by one. Another is to transfer files (pictures) to your computer delete the ones you don't want, format your card and then put the ones you want to keep on your camera back. You can't delete just a few pictures. I carry 3 memory cards. one just has the pictures I want to show people. I load that card from my computer. The other 2 are like great big rolls of film that let me take lots and lots of pictures without the worry of running out of film. I transfer the pictures I want to show people on my camera to the third one and keep the other 2 erased. Most of my pictures are only on my computer and backed up on DVD's.

What is the best sports settings for a Nikon Coolpix S550?

for this problem, their is a button to the right of the ok button on your camera. when you click that button a little scale type thing will pop up and it will say exposure compersation. you can press the up and donwn buttons to make the picture your taking darker or also you can pres up to make the picture come out more bright, without using flash. It works for me, hope it works for you too.

Nikon coolpix S550 purchased 4 moths back .. picture quality is very poor in night times.. event it is not bright in some dull light also.. Please help me.. Give me instructions if i need to change the...

You should change the ASA or ISO equivalent value--ie, change from 200-speed film to 1600-speed film. This will make the photo appear "grainier" but will show more detail. You can also manually choose slower shutter speeds--even longer than one second--but this will require that you hold the camera very steadily, probably on a tripod.

When you put the picture into your computer, you should be able to modify it with any available software. You can make the picture brighter, change the contrast, or change something called the gamma curve. ALWAYS work from a copy of the original file, so if you screw it up, you still have the original information intact!

Distorted picture

Being as the problem comes and goes this would suggest that the convergence Ic's are simply un-soldering them self from the board, If you catch this soon enough a simple re-solder will fix this
