Thomson dti6300-16 won't record freeview channels....

I wonder if anyone can help....I bought the thomson 6300 with top-up tv for over £100, but have since stopped paying for top-up tv as we rarely used it. I was assured the box would still do everything with freeview, but although I can get all the channels, it does not allow me to record them or anything! Surely this can't be right - if I have merely wanted a freeview tuner, I could have got one for about £20....and I had to pay extra for the top-up channels....so surely I should still be able to use the hard drive!!! It makes no sense....can anyone help....the helpline....erm....doesn't!!!

Maybe a defragged hard drive follow this procedure:
1. Select Menu, Set-Up, Help.
2. Press the Green button on the remote control.
3. This shows the Advanced Information screen.
4. Now press the Blue button which will prompt you with a warning box.
5. Now press the Green button if you wish to proceed.
6. The DTR will take around a minute to complete the reformat, and will then automatically restart itself.
Next do a channel rescan.

The Thomson DV3 is now called Top Up TV. The manuals for the product are here: http://www.topuptv.co.uk/help+centre/downloads

This site also gives the codes to make the Top Up TV box control your TV volume. Hope this helps.

After recording a programme last night on my thomson freeview box a flashing orange light came on. i have tried switching it off at the plug, but the flashing light is still there

Hi, a common problem with the thomson freeview boxes is capacitors leaking in the power supply, The ones that go usually are the two 1000uf capacitors. If any of the capacitors look deformed, ie the tops look domed in any way. I would change them , Handy if you know how to use a soldering iron. If you can use a soldering iron remember to put the new capacitor in the same way ( the wires are marked so you must put them in the same way round).

Thomson dti6300-16

You can still record all the freeview channels. What has happened is you've run out of room on your hard drive. First you must deselect all the top up channels;
menu > 'Setup' > 'Customise TUTV', and un-ticking all boxes releases space and produces a report of '100%' free for recording. The time available for recording depends on the size of the hard drive and amount of data saved in each recording and 15% of disc space is not counted. This is for software or programme information etc. and, even when not subscribed, ads from TUTV are downloaded to library. However they are replaced or removed automatically, and messages are deleted after a week.
Also delete all the recordings in the library you don't need anymore.
