Small picture with lines

TV picture just went black and now the picture is made up of lines at the top half of the screen. I took the back off and the red, green and blue projection lights look ok. Can't seem to figure it out. Is this something a novice can fix or is repair necessary or is it worth just buying a different TV. This one is about 9 years old.

Unplugged TV from the outlet for about a half hour. Plugged it back in and it worked ok. After about 7 hours the lines came back again. Not sure if it is coincidence but both times this happened on the Video screen. Once with a Video game and then with a DVD movie. Something overheating?

    Thanks for any help

Horizonal line across middle of screen top half of picture perfect bottom half has small lines in picture hitachi hd S 69 plasma

I'm not sure if this model is the one that has resistors that go bad. You can actually purchase a pack of resistors in a kit. It will come with solder, the resistors and instructions. You can lay the tv out and take the circuit board out to find the blown components, and replace the bad ones. Takes about an hour start to finish and will cost around $65.00. It has been a few years since I did this, so I'm not sure on the price.

LG 32LH30 LCD TV Problem

IMO Seriously for $119 it's not worth it.
However, it does sound like a capacitor problem
If you are "Serious" about fixing I'd find a TV repair Forum.
Else I'd go here and get a new one.

Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
