Cable isn't on color?... Could it be that its on a different format than your TV supports? (I.E. Your cable is NTSC but your tv is PAL)

either that, or Cable on your TV is set to the oposite Video Format. Check your user's manual just in case. and if you don't know what NTSC or PAL are, go HERE:

Why cant i get my wii console to work in color

Well it might either be the tv or the av cables that is causing the wii system to be in black grey and white then.
Picture Is Black and White or Does Not Appear Situation:
  • The console powers on and shows a black and white image on the television screen
  • The console powers on and there is no image on the television

What to do:
  • Determine whether the Standard AV Cables (packaged with the system) or the Component Cables (sold separately) are being used.

  • AV Cables

    • Ensure the yellow, red, and white cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

    • If the TV does not have the yellow, red and white inputs, it will most likely have component inputs which allow standard AV cable use. Try these AV hookup steps. (How To)

  • Component Cables

    • Ensure the red, blue and green video cables are connected to the correct corresponding inputs on the TV. (How To)

    • Try another set of inputs on the TV, or hooking the Wii console up to another TV.

Still Not Resolved:
  • If the television is continues to show a black and white image when powering on the Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired. Please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we may assist you further.

XBOX NOW PLAYS IN BLACK AND WHITE WITH OLDER TV DID WORK FINE AND DOES ON NEW HDTV ALL CABLES GOOD NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO GET COLOR BACK

There is a switch that changes the video cable from SD( for use with older TV's without high definition connectivity) to HD (used for newer HD TV's with high definition.

If your older television is using a composite (yellow) connection for video, make sure the switch is in the SD position and NOT hd.

I have had my wii for a while and it is black and we hooked it up to our flat screen Vizio and it is only in black and white but then when i hook it up to my older tv it is in color and i cant figure out...

Did you use the Component cables for the new tv? If you did, you need to go into the System Menu of the Wii, and change the output to Component 480p, and that should give you a color picture with a higher resolution. Hope this helps!

Black and white screen

I had the same problem. I fixed it by changing system settings, there is somewhere on the console where you can choose between two differant colour options. have a look around and try changing it on the ps itself.

A/V in black and white

good day,

what video device do you plug in to your TV screen, DVD player/VCR or game console?

If you still have the owners manual of your TV screen, look for instruction regarding Color system or video system. this menu will allow you to change color sytem from PAL to NTSC or AUTO system.
most likely the reason why you have a black and white color from vidoe input is because of system color compatibilty from your input device to your screen.

Or if your using a dvd player, you can also try accessing the "setup" button and look for video setting. from the video setting there will be selection to choose from: PAL , NTSC, AUTO . always select "auto"
so that the color system of your DVD player can change from PAL to NTSC deffending on your TV screen system setup.

cheers,
mark

New system - no color on screen

the cable colors have to match the tv ones if you have different colors on cables then look for the label on the cables saying video or audio (red)=audio (white)=other audio (yellow)=video EXAMPLE if the cable colors are different than the tv then if the label on the cables say video and the color is blue etc. then you have to put it on the yellow putin on the tv no matter the color. If it dosent work then try holding the cables in many angles try pulling them or anything unlit they work get something to hold them up if that dosent work then i think you should buy new cables.
