My F4280 HP all in one wont recognize the refilled cartridge.

I have a F4280 hp all in one scanner printer. The color ink ran out. I refilled but it wont work. What can i do short of buying another new cartridge? The machine is new. The cartridge that ran out of ink is the original color cartridge. When I refill the cartridge and install it, the machine gives an error code, a big E in the window. It just seems to not recognize that the cartridge is even there. I have always refilled my cartridges until now. HELP ME!!! please,,, The most serious problem is not that it wont print because I have an old d1460 HP printer that I use to print and it lets me refilled the cartridges.
The real problem is that with the error code present, I can neither scan documents nor can I make copies. I could get by with scanning and then printing on the other printer. But I am out of business as far as scanning after buying this expensive machine. What's the solution?

I have exactly the same problem and have cleaned the sensor plate! Is this a way of making us buy only new cartridges. Good for HO - bad for the environment. Would not have bought this model if I had known this beforehand!

Hello, attempt to clean the sensors on the bottom of the cartridge with some kind of solvent and q-tip. If the ink cartridge has sat awhile before you refilling it then the jets will be clogged dry and you will need to purchase a new one for your printer.

Hi, I have an HP F4280 printer and the orange light of the color ink level is always lighting so i can't print anything (I am sure that my color cartridge is not already empty). What can I do? Oh yeah,...

There is only enough ink in the HP 60 cartridge to print approximately 200 pages. Also, the ink stored in the cartridge can dry quickly even it it's not used so you may be out of ink or the ink in the cartridge has dried up. Refill your cartridge with a kit or replace it with a new one. The ink level indicator is only an estimate any way. See pg 72 of the user manual which you can obtain here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01374711.pdf

I have a new HP Deskjet F4280 bought 3 weeks ago & the blank ink cartridge was empty & I refilled it in a store & placed it back but printer recognise that the cartridge is empty & it does not have a chip.

You cannot reset the ink level for the HP 60 ink cartridge. Simply ignore the ink level indicator if you refill your cartridges. It is only an estimate of the ink level anyway. See pg 72 of the user manual.

My printer can't read the new ink level after refilling

The ink level indicator is only an estimate to give you an idea when it's time to buy a new cartridge. You cannot reset the ink level indicator so simply ignore it if you refill your cartridges. See pg 72 of the user manual which you can get here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01374711.pdf
