SOURCE: Casio EXILIM camera lens will not extend fully!!!

It's the focus lens gears. The often times get knocked out of alignment by an impact, or debris gets in there. This can be fixed, but Casio won't help. Hint...google my username. ;)

SOURCE: camera shuts off lens error

"lens error" will only be fixed by sending into repairs. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2. Tell them you have a lens error and they will tell you where to send it.

Make sure the battery or batteries are either fully charged or are new. If it still will not work, then the camera needs repair, and it may be better to sell it then for parts or repair, as is on a site such as Ebay.

Hi, my Nikon Coolpik S8100 camera lens seems to be stuck and not extending. When I turn the camera on, it makes a clicking sound and the lens does not come out. Please help!

try manually pulling on lens housing while powering on. if there is a grinding noise the gears are probably missing teeth.

IT FAIL AND IT IS MAKING CLICKING NOISE WHEN I TURN IT ON. IT GIVES ME A MESSAGE "LENS ERROR "

Usually that means that you have a bit of grit in the lens mechanism and the camera recognizes that it is taking too much force to open or close. The clicking noise is the camera trying to extend the lens for use. If repeatedly switching the camera on and off fails, you are at a crossroads. You can send it to a repair facility to have the grit removed (assuming the unit hasn't be come damaged in the process). Or, you can take a substantial risk and try to "help" the lens open or close by wiggling or pushing lightly on the lens mechanism to try to loosen the grit. The risk is that you'll break the mechanism for good. I have taken this risk and won, but it's a chance you'll have to decide to take on your own!

I have a powershot a80. When I turn it on I get an E18 error code in the window. The lens makes a clicking noise like it's trying to open and it doesn't open.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Lens doesn't extend

its likely the lens was physically damaged/jammed during the drop. Your best bet is to take it to the local camera shop for repairs. I would also refrain from turning it on to reduce the possibility of further damage.

Frozen lens and shutter

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
