As I was driving and using my garmin, changing from my route to "detour" and back the screen froze (80 minutes ago). Since I tried to turn off (using power switch) and I also unplugged. Garmin remains in a frozen mode --- touching the mennu bar, or any other area on screen will not unfreeze. Please advise.

Try resetting the unit. Remove the faceplate (there is an indentation at the top) and press the Reset button on the right side of the unit. If this does not help, there is a Master Reset, but it WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES. If you have to do this, press and hold the bottom right of the screen and press the power button until the unit resets.

SOURCE: The screen on my Garmin Street Pilot C340 is frozen

I read the manual. There is a reset button underneath the plastic cover surrounding the screen (pry off w/ your thumb) -- push the reset if the power can't be turned off otherwise.

Hello. When I turned my Garmin on this AM, the language had changed to Spanish. I tried changing the setting using the tool icon but it didn't work. Is there something else I should be doing?

Hello.

Apply the below guild to solve the problem please rate this solution four thumb

The garmin is offered in many markets and instructions areavailable in numerous languages, including German, Italian, Spanish andEnglish. If your instructions are in a language other than English, you can usethis article to get started and make a journey.
1 Turn on the garmin using the "on/off" button and tap onthe screen to answer some questions that the garmin will ask you. After you have answered thequestions, the GO will show the "Driving View," which appears in monochromeuntil the GO finds your location. It then transitions to color.2 Place the garmin outside in an open space without tall trees orlarge buildings around you, and the garmin will find the location. It can take up to fiveminutes when starting the garmin for thefirst time. The "Driving View" appears in color when the GO haspositioned itself.3 Tap the screen to launch the main menu and touch"Navigate to" then "Address." Choose between "City Center,""Postcode" and so on. Type the details onto the screen using theletter-pad. Touch "Done" when you are finished and the garmin will calculate the route.4 Stay on the route by following the map on the screenand by listening to the voice prompts. The To garmin will immediately start guiding you. The"Driving View" will show the name of the next road, the nextinstruction and your current position in addition to other information.Thanks.

WHEN IN A TRAFFIC JAM, HOW DO I FIND AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE?

With the route showing on your satnav, press MENU and then DETOUR. This should take you around the traffic jam. Alternatively you could just turn off, drive a distance from the traffic jam and let the satnav update your route to get you back on track. I hope this solves your problem.

Many times my navigation system leads me to roads that are unnecessary to follow (like a tourist-view route), it only costs me more time if I follow exactly the same ways he asks me to follow. I wish it...

Go to Tools.... Settings....Navigation.....under Route Preference set it to Faster Time if you need to change it just press to Shorter Distance or Off Road.... if you change it make sure you press OK n bottom screen

Faster Time I use

Next

Avoidances.....should be Enabled......press it....make sure Highway is Not checked... if you make changes here also press Ok on bottom screen

I only keep checked U-turns ...Traffic...Car Pool ...Unpaved roads

Before you travel, add your route to the GPS, do a trial run from home and see which direction it is taking you by pressing the turn arrows
If that isnt the way you want to go, on the map screen press menu then press detour, this will take you in another direction again scroll down the turns and see the route

How do I set the GPS so it shows me the best route on main roads and not all the side, gravel and dirt roads

Click Tools.....Settings.....Navigation...

I like Faster Time.... you can change it to Shorter Distance or Off Road
depending on your gps

On Avoidances... I have it Enabled

click Avoidances.... I avoid U-Turns.....Traffic...Carpool Lanes...Unpaved Roads

click OK after your choices..

Good idea when you plan a route is to check it by arrowing down your map to make sure its the route you want to travel, if not go back to main page and click detour X to change route then you can save it if you like

My 775t gets hung up at 23% when calculating a simple route

look for a small hole in bottom of unit. insert a small pin or paperclip and hold down for 15 seconds. try turning on again. Are you sure you have the correct set of maps for europe? you may need to manually switch to the correct map set as the unit may not switch automaticlly.

I want my Garmin to take me on a different route to my destination than the one that has been selected by Garmin. Does anyone know if I can change it to the route I want? Thanks!

On most Garmins there's a button marked "detour". On the touch screen versions it's an on-screen button rather than a physical button.

Program for garmin c330

The c330 doesn't know if there is a detour or accident, however, if you need to take a detour from your current route, select DETOUR from the Menu page of the c330. The unit calculates a new route and provides you with new instructions. It then attempts to get you back on your original route as soon as possible.

Shortest Route and Fastest Route Garmin Nuvi 200

The problem could be in your avoidance settings. I know when I was in Delaware, a 1/2 hour trip turned out to be a 3 hour detour because I had set to avoid highways.

In Garmin, if it's checked, it means AVOID. I know the documentation isn't clear but I've learned from experience (trial & error).

Sometimes it happens. Garmin isn't perfect but it beats looking at a map most of the time.
