This player only plays sigmatel video files. You have toconvert the files to smv files. You can use the easy rip that came with the OPAL. I like using http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm its a free program and does a much better job.
Log onto the RCA website and download the RCA SMV Video Converter. The Opal only plays videos that are in one specific format. This converter will put your videos into that exact format (see Resources below).
Install the RCA SMV Video Converter once you have downloaded the software.
Open the RCA SMV Video Converter software to begin putting videos onto your RCA Opal.
Connect the RCA Opal to your computer using the USB chord that came with the device.
Wait until the RCA SMV Video Converter software reads that the device has been connected. You will know this when the bottom of the software screen reads “Player Detected: Opal 1GB 2GB.”
Select the “Browse” option to find any videos that are on your computer which you wish to add to the RCA Opal.
Click the box next to “Transfer output files to OPAL 1GB 2GB after conversion is complete” after you have selected all of the videos which you wish to convert. This will automatically add the videos to your RCA Opal after they have been converted.
Click the “Convert” box after you have selected all of the videos. The videos will automatically begin to convert to the correct format. Once they have been converted, your videos will automatically upload to your RCA Opal.

RCA Opal 4001/4002 – Transferring Videos You will need to download the RCA Media Converter from RCA's website, and then convert the videos before they will transfer to your player. -Tha Mp3 Doctor xxx
Did you install the video converter that came with the opal? You have to convert all files into a format that's compatible with the player. It's simple to do and should solve your problems!
You have to use the video converter program that came with your opal. If you haven't installed that onto your computer yet, that's where you need to start. After it's installed, plug in your opal, let the computer recognize that it's there, and open the converter program. This will take wma files and convert them into a format that will work with your mp3 player. The program should automatically download them to the player after it converts the file. Good luck.
when i loaded music for the first time my player loaded everything from my computer videos, music, and pictures.
you might can try this:
1. plung your opal in usb port on pc
2. open my pictures
3. minmize it> my pictures
4. open my computer,so make sure player is regonize.
5. open pictures and drag and drop method
6. it's easy if you already have a picture folder of the pictures you want....hope that helps good luck!!!!
You do have the disc? you have to use a program on the disc that converts videos into "smv"...it's on the disc, one of the options on the splash install menu.
