Same problem. The LCD screen works, i.e. I can see and manipulate the menu, etc. And it will play back one of my many tapes (just the one). Full power or battery, night shot off, when I put it in record mode, no image. When I tape something, I cannot see what I'm taping. Audio seems to work, though. Cannot see through viewfinder either. The camera once worked amazingly well. Then one day, without warning, poof! Tried to transfer tapes via USB to pc. It just transfers fuzz.

Blue screen on lcd screen

The playback head is probably dirty and cannot show the picture - the screen is blue. Run a blank tape in the tape drive and execute a record all the way through the tape. Then play back a pre-recorded tape to verify it plays back ok.

Lines through the tape when recording or playing back

It could need a head adjustment. Any camera store can do that for you.

Lost LCD Screen

You MAY just have a dirty playback head. Purchase a head cleaning tape (Bestbuy, Target, etc., for about $20) and try cleaning your playback head. Colored lines is ONE symptom of a dirty head. A blue screen is ANOTHER. I had that symptom yesterday (9/7/07), got a cleaning tape and solved the problem. I can now again see on the LCD display what I recorded on the tape. Good luck.

Can my camcorder work with imovie and if so how do i get my computer to get download my video?

Open iMovie and set it to capture DV. (Click the camera shaped icon opposed to the siscor scissor shape) When you see a blue screen that says (camera connected) and the image pops on screen of image from tape on camcorder set in play mode, you hit the import button and it begins to capture digital movie using DV compression of whatever you have on tape. You should be able to control your camcorder with the video controllers underneath the project window to make selections for the in and outpunts on the tape you wish to capture. Then switch to edit mode by clicking on the scissor button and import the movies you just captured or use them from the clips menu, etc. renedr movie back to tape, if you wish by clicking back and forth from edit mode (scissors) and capture mode (camera silo) and render to and from tape.
