Toshiba e-studo120 H4 error code

My copier displays a flashing "H" then a flashing "4" error code. This error code appeared after area heater tripped the circuit breaker thereby interupting power to the e120. The e120 was on at the time but not in use.

This should do it.

Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.

  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [10's] key one time and the [1's] key four times to enter '14' in the LED Display, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  5. Press the green [Start] button.
  6. Press the pink [Clear] button two times.
  7. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
  8. If the above steps do not clear the error code, repeat steps 3 to 6 a second time.

I did this.

1. Follow trikieone's directions. However the buttons need clarification.
-The Clear button is pink and is marked with a large "C".
-The auto button is not marked and is black. It is the third button to the left of the clear button on the control panel and has no markings.
-The 10 button is the down arrow under the counter led. Press this button only once.
-The 1 button is the up arrow under the counter led. You need to press this 4 times to get to 14.

System error H4-00

Here is the text from a tip I have osted here on Fixya. It is for the Sharp AL Series copiers but your Toshiba is made by sharp and the reset procedure should be the same.

To reset the H4 condition on just about any Sharp AL series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

My copier displays a flashing "H" then a flashing "4" error code

The H4 error is related to the Fuser Unit not reaching the correct operating temperature in the correct time. You can try clearing this error with the following:

Make sure that the machine is switched on and the error is displayed. Enter the Service Mode by pressing the following keys # * Clr *

Enter 14 and press Start. Then power off the machine, wait 30 seconds and then power back on. The error should have cleared. If not then you will need to call in a service engineer.

H4 is a fuser error. It needs to be replaced by a tech. Sometimes they can reset this error in service program.

Error code

Hi, H4 is a heater error. Try resetting it by the following; Enter #, interupt, Clear, interupt, display goes dead, enter 14 then print. That will clear the error code, however if you have a problem with the heater it will return. It is probably the thermal fuse has tripped, which is resetable by removing the fuser unit
