This is the Automatic Sheet Feeder [ASF] Cam Sensor Error

Movement may cause the plastic guide to move away from the chassis which causes the gears not to rotate properly causing a grinding noise and 5 alternating blinks (SFP) or ##356 (MFP) - ASF Cam Sensor Error.

Remedy: Adjust the Screws & Main Case Unit

Step 1: Remove the Left & Right Covers and the Main Case Unit (main cover).
Step 2: Remove the 4 mounting screws from the Chassis.
Step 3: Remove the Main Unit from the Bottom Case.
Step 4: Turn the Main Unit over (upside down) and place on work surface.
Step 5: Inspect the ASF section of the Main Unit for a gap between the white plastic guide and the Chassis. The size of the gap varies. Even if the gap is not visible, complete the steps below.

Step 6: Disconnect the appropriate cables and remove the Logic Board from the Chassis.
Step 7: Loosen but DO NOT remove the 4 mounting screws which can be located behind the logic board on the Chassis.
Step 8: Reseat the white plastic guide so it sits flush against the Chassis. The tip of the white plastic guide should sit slightly inside the mounting screw hole. When seated correctly, the gap will no longer be present.
Step 9: Tighten the 4 mounting screws without causing the plastic guide to shift.
Step 10: Reassemble the printer and retest.

Canon Pixma MP780 makes a loud clicking noise. No paper jammed anywhere. It seems to be the gears where the cartridges are.

i have th same exact problem, just took much of it apart, bu still cant see why it makes the loud noise, also I cant switch paper feed to back, which at least would allow it to print from there... please let me know if you find a solution.

I have a canon mp780. Shows an error code of wrong cartridge, even though I have replaced all the cartridges with new canon ones.

Click support tab. Type "error wrong cartridge" - follow directions in results

Alarm is ringing ##356 is dispayed on screen also on screen is the words check printer press ok

That error is a sheet feeder error, the paper feeder is not moving properly. Any time I've found this problem, I've found broken gear studs and the feeder assembly needs to be replaced. Runs around $40.00 for the part.

Software for canon pixma mp780

Not knowing where you are from, I can only give the following help.

Do a Google search using the following text:

pixma mp780 +driver

Note the "+driver" (no space between the "+" and the word "driver").

This will bring up a lot of sites where you can dowload the drivers.
