Have cleaned the plates, run the beads up and down on the internal wires, blown the encasement out with compressed air, and the red override light stays on. There's still grime I can not get too in the base, is there anyway to get into the darned thing to clean it properly? have got alergies so would like to be able to use it again, have 2 of these units and have the same problem with both.
Thanks
The internal high-voltage grid wires are connected to a switch which is maintained in the closed position by the tension on the wire.
This red light comes on when the tension in the high-voltage grid wires relaxes or one of the wires breaks thus opening the switch.
There is no good remedy for this -- I have repaired a half dozen of these units by replacing the grid wires with titanium wire. This is a very time-consuming, complicated, nerve-wracking repair -- not recommended.
Like you I went through the hard-core cleaning pocess, but found it usually makes no difference or very little.
You could try E-Bay for a replacement or shop for a more rugged ozone-generating air purifier -- I'm looking for one myself.
