Need to download installation CD for X1185

Lost CD installation software and need to install in my computer

Please use the following steps to download the Lexmark X1185 driver to your desktop:

1. Select "Driver for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003" 

2. Click on "Download Now."

3. On the "File Download" screen, choose "Save."

4. The next screen will be titled "Save As." Choose to "Save in Desktop" and click "OK."

5. You should see files being transferred.

****Note**** If your browser uses a different file downloading format than specified above, you will need to resort to your browsers help files for downloading instructions. The object of steps 1 - 4 is to download the driver to your desktop. This way it is easily accessible.

6. Once the files have completed downloading, double click on the icon with your file name.

7. On the "Win Zip Self-Extractor" screen click "OK." To unzip the downloaded file choose "Unzip."

8. A screen will then display the number of files unzipped successfully, click "OK."

9. Please follow the on screen instructions to complete installation of your Lexmark printer.

Do u need the cd to make it work

In case, If you have lost the CD, no need to worry as Lexmark provides the drivers and softwares free of cost at their website. Have lost disc and have new computer with vista. need to reinstall
Hi ed,

Try going to the printer manufacturers website, go to driver downloads/support file printer info choose os and download the new software to a folder, create a new folder on your desktop and name it newprintersoftware. This will be the software you need for new installation. same as the cd.

To be honest if your driver software was running before you had the CD burner repaired you should not need to re-install Your printer. However if you think you need to re-install please uninstall previous software. Open control panel, open Add /Remove Programs. Find your Printer & un-install it. Re-start your Pc & hook up your printer & re-install the software.
We at FixYa try to help people. So if there was a problem with your CD burner why would any repair site need your whole computer including your printer? You don't need to answer that.
The average CD burner, brand new runs between $20.00 & 30.00 & I'm showing a DVD/RW burner that also burns CD's.
