I have as one touch Maxtor 120 GB hard drive but now have a vista computer the original software will not load on vista I can read files and copy them but the Maxtor program to back up is needed to due a complete back up?

When you plug the unit into the Vista machine, it should appear on the drive list immediately. From there you can copy files manually or use any backup software.
If you wish to use the backup software, the latest version can be downloaded from the Seagate site.
