A100 I/O Error

Hi
I have a Toshiba A100 laptop up until recently the dvd/cd player worked fine but now i get the drive is not available because of an I/O Device Error - can anyone help me with fixing this. It stopped working after burning iso images with an iso burner - have i worn it out or have the settings been altered in some way?
Thanks

My media player does open and play in my Sattelite M200 laptop

You need to install the codecs,
visit www.free-codecs.com
and dowload from there, use the codec packs (xp codec pack or vista codec pack) I used both on my 2 laptops and they work fine.

Toshiba satellite a65-s1762 dvd-ram drive problems

Take the laptop *and* your DVDs/CDs to a qualified technician.
It seems like the drive is "intermittently" failing, and needs to be replaced.

Try this:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891894
Assuming all the cabling and internal connections are fine , i would try "Method 3" on the page first.

J-rad72,

Yes, Sorry for the bad news, that drive has gone bad and has to be replaced. It has to do something with the drive board causing the issue.

Dvd drive on laptop

You need a piece of software to play DVD movies. Is this an actual DVD movie, or is it an MP4 or WMV/WMA file?

Usually you need something like WinDVD to play a DVD movie. I don't think Media Player can play those.

Did you recently install another piece of software that might have affected your ability to play DVDs?

CD / DVD player not listed as device on Windows Explorer

Try physically removing the player and fire up the laptop. Power down the laptop, replace the player and power back up. If that doesn't help, see if BIOS recognizes it.
If that doesn't work, get back to me.
