Yes, It was due to script changed by The IE 7.

Hi,
If you have just deleted the icon from desktop and not uninstalled then we can put a shortcut back on desktop
Click on START button
click on MY Computer
OR
Open MY Computer icon from Desktop
Open Local Disk C:\
Open Program Files
Open HP Folder
Open Bin Folder
You will find a file by name HPDIREC
Right click on the file name and Click create shortcut on desktop ( this icon will not look exactly like the HP Director icon you deleted )
Close the window and you will find the HP Direct icon on desktop
If not, you can uninstall the software from Add/remove programs under control panel and install the latest software for your printer. Click on the download button below to open HP website to download the software by selecting your operating system

I tried the solution by connecting to the link recommended. The HP Director box will open but it will not allow me to anything. If I try to copy it tells me an error has occured to check status which says the printer is ready and retry. I do and get the same thing.
If I try to scan I get the message " the function you have requested cannot be performed because another program has control of the device etc and try again
Any new suggestion for problem
I had indicated last night that this had let me into HP Director but could not use it however I tried many times going through all the functions in HP Director and finally it all worked itself out and now am in business again.
