I have a Samsung SyncMaster 712n I turned the computer on , but my screen is black and the power light is blinking. I unpluged and repluged but still nothing on the screen.

I get this problem too, usually I just punch the moniter(not on the screen part) until the screen comes back. its pretty effective but annoying to do every few hours.

A blinking blue light indiactes that your power-inverter board is not
putting out what it should. It needs an overhaul which may be a simple
as changing out the capacitors on the boards.
It could go beyong that to transistors or even a bad bulb.
It will have to be opened up to do that.
A picture may show visual signs of damage. If you can take one and email it to me , I'll take a look.

That sounds like the backlight inverter board. Check ebay for the board or a repair kit for it.

There are 4 transistors that go bad due to various issues (one being a cold solder issue with the power inverters for the transistors. I had this fixed and replaced the transistors. They lasted about 10 months). The 4 No. 2SC5707 transistors must be desoldered and removed, new ones put in their place and resoldered. I took the parts (transistors) and the removed power/circuit board from the LCD to a tv repairman and he did the repairs (de and resoldering) for about $60.

some transistors on the board have shorted they supply power to the inverter to run the lamps, they power is not cut off intermittently and the protection circuit has stopped the monitor. the fix is here

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.
A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data.
This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.
((A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly.
This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.))
A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.
You should consider visiting Dell Support and downloading the manual for your
your Dell computer. So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them.

My Dell flatscreen monitor just went out on me. The green light is slowly flashing. I tried to unplug the power and it still didn't help. When I turn the monitor back on the screen flashes quickly and then returns to black. I hooked up a different monitor and it is fine so I know it's not the computer but a monitor problem. Any suggestions????
monitor shows when power is supplied (orange power button).. screen is blank through post up to the login screen (os is winxp home).. at login the screen remains blank but the power button begins to flash green slowly.. i've plugged in a**ther monitor and confirmed there's ** problem with the pc.. pls help, thx kindly
My monitor went black and the power light blinks green. None of the buttons work. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it.
Having the totally same problem with my dell monitor. Hmm. Seems to be a trend!
The screen is completely black, but the light indicating that it is on is green when the computer is on, and orange when the computer is off. I connected another monitor, which works fine, so the computer is OK.

Monitor goes to black (often after a full screen graphic display) and power light flashes yellow & green. Sometimes lasts for a minute or so and then desk top reappears.
Power on/off button does not function during this process.
