How do I solve a problem with starting up windows in my hp pavilion g6? Whenever I start windows a blue screen appears and the computer restarts.

Sounds like your hard drive has either failed, come disconnected, or someone performed a full format of the drive which wiped out the partitions or the boot sector of the drive. Worst case you will need to replace drive and purchase reinstall disk from hp. Best case you will only need to purchase reinstall disk from hp. If you do need a new drive, I recommend purchasing it from hp directly, as it will already be prepared with hps proprietary boot configuration files which must be present for hardware to be recognized by system bios.

I have a Compaq Presario SR2020NX. I press the power button and the fan comes on, the green light is bright , the cd drive blinks then stops as if the computer is starting but nothing happens. The fan...

Disconnect the drive and try to boot to the BIOS (usually with F1, F2 or Delete key). If that doesn't work, try removing all cards from the computer (except a video card if the video port is not on the motherboard). If you can boot this way, try inserting back any removed cards to see what hangs it. Do you hear any beeps when the computer is booting (beep codes)?

SYSTEM HANGS DURING REBOOT

Hi jameelafghan.

Remove the RAM/Memory from *********** board, and re-insert it.

Sometimes miss-alignment or dust on contact points can lead to dead spots on Memory, and the computer will hang.

An easy fix. Try it!

Kind Regards

My PC won't start? every time i start it the fan just spins fast and loud and nothing happens, the screen doesn't show. this happened when i took the PC apart. it a Compaq presario sr1610nx

Initially test the monitor in another pc, if display available use the monitor in Compaq presario sr1610nx. Load to BIOS by restarting and tapping F1, if the display available, the computer is ok. restart and tap F8, if the advanced boot option screen comes up, the software is ok.
Restart the computer and tap F10 and proceed with a destructive recovery to reload the operating system on the computer

Perform the following actions to prepare the computer for troubleshooting a startup problem.

Computer will not start

When Windows crashes with blue screen, it writes a system event 1001 or 1003 and a minidump to the folder \windows\minidump. Check system event 1001 and 1003 and it has the content of the blue screen

Event ID: 1001
Source: Save Dump
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.The bugcheck was : 0xc000000a (0xe1270188, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804032100).
Microsoft Windows..... A dump was saved in: .......

Event Source: System Error
Event Category: (102)
Event ID: 1003
Description:
Error code 1000007f, parameter1 0000000d, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000

Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System -> Event 1001/1003. Copy the content and paste it back here
