Yes. Wait for it to charge. You've probably run the battery COMPLETELY flat. Your ipod will turn off with a little charge left, to keep the flash memory ticking over so you don't lose all your data. If you left it too long, even that will run out. Just leave it to charge, completely. If that means 3 hours, then wait that long, because it'll be a lot better for your battery life in the long term.

I have a stereo in my basement that worked fine the last times I used it but I haven't used it in a long time. I use my iPod as input from the earphone jack. I went to use it today and there is no sound...

If it looks like there's screws holding the outer housing on.... Un plug it and take out the screws... Look under the hood, but don't touch anything! See any fuses? Is it blown? If so replace it! Plug it in and try it? If no fuses then look for capacitors! They're usually the biggest of the black cylindrical things on the circuit board.... What you gonna do is.... Tap on them one at a time with the radio on and an input source active... So plug in your I pool and turn it on as if you were playing something as normal.... And crank the volume to probably about 25 to 40 percent.(assuming it isn't too loud for ya) and Gently tap the tops of the capacitors... One by one listening for either improvement in sound or staticy chappy sorts of sounds.... You may have to progressively tap harder and harder to get anything... But don't break the friggin things! Tap no harder than maybe the force of flicking a bogie.. Seriously.. Flick a bogie. Right now.... So... Yeah... That hard. If you find a capacitor that acts funny (responds to flicking) then it's shot and needs to be replaced... You could desolder it yourself... Then solder in a new one... Of take it to a shop... Your choice. You might want to you tube desolder in and stuff... I'm not even gonna try typing all that out.

Turning off IPOD 1059

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

Computer shuts down ever time I connect the iPod

Are you using Windows XP or Vista? If windows XP, make sure that you have the latest service pack 2 and hotfixes. Go to Start All Programs/ Windows Updates to update. Note that this is very common if you do not have the latest updates for Windows XP. And I would say that if it works on other computers, it definitely software related; either computer is not up to date, Version of itunes or Driver issue/corruption. Has it ever worked on that computer? If it has, Then just run a system restore to when it last worked and that should take care of it. Let us know if any of these works for you.

yeah...funny thing i went through the samething it's kind of confusing but what you'll have to do is try holding down "Menu and select" at the same time once you see the apple hold down either "select and play" or "select and fastf" it should go in bootloader mode or diskjump what ever you wanna call it then plug it to the computer see if you can get some type of charge you may have to get a charger but once you get some type of battery it will be ok then you'll have to reformat the ipod it should work badck to normal if it doesn't write me at [email protected]
